Budget:
$3500 Expectations: Gaming up to 4k single monitor What do yall think of the current build? Should I make any changes? Sytem will be used primarily for gaming. Not a lot of FPS games, mainly adventure, rpg, base building(satisfactory) type games but I want to be able to play FPS without issue if I so choose. Nothing much wrong here, but for about the same money, you can get a bit better performance on a newer tech and upgraded motherboard. Switch to Intel:
https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=4268907 Here's what the CPU difference looks like: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-12700K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-9-5900X/4119vs4087 There's nothing wrong with a 970 EVO PLUS for your primary drive, it's plenty fast. The 980 is almost twice as fast for just $50. You wouldn't know the difference because you wouldn't have them side by side, but you might want the better one. If you have a huge amount of files, videos and photos you want to store on this machine, you have that in the HDD. If not, IMHO you are much better off leaving mechanical drives in the rear view mirror. Yes, SSDs are much more pricy, but even the 870 EVO SATA drive is about 5 times faster than an HDD, and that's the slowest SSD here. A 970 EVO is over 20 times faster. If you want a really fast operating system, and want to store a lot of games and have good loading times, I recommend you get a 1TB 980 PRO for Drive one, and the 1TB 970 EVO PLUS for Drive two. That's an affordable combo here, well within your budget. You just add storage to that when you need to. SSDs are really easy to install yourself. Hope it helps. |
