I purchased the following system about a month and a half ago, greatly anticipating tearing it open when I got home from deployment. Then I got extended and I was not able to be united with it until December 20. I have since messed around on it a little bit.
I would first like so say that this computer is far and away the best rig I have ever had. Pros: -Speed is insanely fast. -Very solidly built and no re-seating of anything. -Initially bought the Ironclad because it was one of the cheapest full tower but I actually really like the look. -Handles 3 monitor surround very easily with the GPU's I chose -Customer service working with me and my unusual payment method, i.e. a mixture of Visa/American Express Gift cards totaling 30. Con: -Literally only one and it is fairly minor, but when Logged on I noticed my CPU was still clocked at the factory clock speed and not Stage 2 over clocked like I paid for. Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Ironclad Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.50 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 (Intel Z77 Chipset) (Features Thermal Armor and Thermal Radar) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 800W Corsair GS (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Neutron GTX Series) (SATA 6Gbps) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 4GB (Includes PhysX) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 120mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler (High-Performance Edition) H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro/Deluxe/Sabertooth Motherboard) Boost Video Card: Yes, Overclock the video card(s) as much as possible with complete stability Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty All in all this whole process was incredibly painless for me and it was an absolute thrill picking my components and working the Digitalstorm to get the Machine I absolutely wanted. Gaming in Surround at MAX settings I rarely drop below 70 FPS and after 9 months at sea with speeds rivaling Dial-up on machines still running Windows 2000 and Windows XP this Rig feels lighting fast. Digitalstorm has found a customer for life for sure. Highly recommended 99 out of 100 stars. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Congrats on a real nice rig.
Welcome to DS and thanks for the review and pics. The overclock issue..... Have you checked overclock with HWMonitor for vcore,1.3 for example, or cpu-z with core speed in bottom left,.4500Mhz for example, with the cpu stressed with gaming for example? Overclock only kicks in under load. Thanks for your service. Enjoy. Edited by bprat22 - 23 Dec 2012 at 3:22pm |

Now that the holidays are done I can post a few more pictures of the PC and set up I have going on. I have confirmed the OC as well so no CONS anymore! Woot. I also got the PC off the floor as you can see in the pics. Even using a dining room table as a desk there wasn't much room with the monitors/stand.
I have been playing RIFT on 5760 X 1080 on Custom Ultra, pretty much everything on and maxed out except super-sampling and still bouncing between 50-70 FPS out and about and I've seen it go as low as 39FPS in main cities in Peak hours. AMAZING machine. |
