    Posted: 19 Dec 2008 at 7:48pm
Kelly overclocked my QX 6700 to 3.0 last summer.  My ram at that time was Dual Channel 2x2048 Corsair Dom 6400 sticks.  I am buying myself some 2x4096 Corsair Dom 8500 sticks cuz its a cheap upgrade... and this year is the year of cheap upgrades.

Question is...Will I need help installing this ram?  Will it screw up the overclocking?  Sry...I'm a newb at this kind of stuff.  thx

just look at your ram , it should tell you what voltage to set it at. go into your bios , set your ram clock to the speed of the ram, and change the voltage to whatever it says on the ram. run prime for a couple of passes on blend and if you freeze up, you may wanna raise your mem voltage a bit. other then that you should be good.

so you got 800MHz ram and want to upgrade to 1066MHz ram?

if so then don't bother you won't notice the difference.

if your ram is not linked to your CPU OC then your OC will be fine.

installing them will take 2 seconds and its real easy

Prime .aka Prime95 is a stability program that you can use to test your PC.

Download it, and you will know exactly what i mean by Blend.
