We just re-designed and gave a re-fresh to our gaming computers page (http://www.digitalstormonline.com/gamingcomputers.asp).

Basically, it's easier to use. Comments?

Cheers,
Alex

The new look is nice and clean, how I like it. However, the configurator is mixed up regarding the AMD cpus and AM3 platform. The phenom II X4 940 cannot fit into an AM3 socket and is not capable of running ddr3 ram. Also, the Asus M4A78T-E mobo in the configurator uses the 790GX chipset, not the 790FX. It is, however, an AM3 socket mobo with ddr3 ram usage.

The main thing is that while the AM3 cpus can run in appropriate AM2+ sockets and use ddr2, the AM2+ socket phenom II cpus cannot fit in an AM3 socket nor are they able to use ddr3 ram. All AM3 cpus are able to use either ddr2 or ddr3 depending upon the mobo it is paired with.

note: after finding a pre-review of this mobo, they do indeed say that AM2+ cpus are compatible. How they are doing this is beyond me since these cpus do not have an integrated ddr3 memory controller. I suppose the mobo has a way of getting the cpu's ddr2 controller to work with ddr3??? The socket itself must be actually an AM2+ with special wiring config as the AM3 has one less pin to prevent AM2+ cpus from being forced in to the socket. Very interesting if this mobo works.

I like the galleries for the cases. It gives a better idea of what the cases are all about without having to find the 'real' retail names for them and having to do third party research to find out what they look like from other angles. And ya, like Widdlecat said, the AMD section looks...off.

More than happy to assist Alex. LOL
Anything to help the DSO community and DSO itself. Gotta do our part to keep DSO on top of the game! As long as you guys are around, we have a company that actually cares about the consumer! Ermm

I only wish I had the money for a new rig! I have to get a tooth capped, so my budget is being pressed...  Wink
I also wanna see the Phenom II X4 AM3 socket cpu come out with 3.0 Ghz or higher... black edition. Yeah, I still wanna support AMD. Star

if for no one else widdlecat I hope for you AMD pulls through and goes to the days of P4 where they were actually competing with Intel.

Very nice indeed. I prefer this over the old one since at first I thought the benchmark crusher had to be that specific case and so forth. Now its more clear and understandable.
