Hi Everybody,
My sister wants to buy a new computer and this is what we came up with. We have a lot of nice features on this build. I know our configuration isn't the price sweet spot for graphics cards right now, but that is where she wants to spend her money. What do you guys think about the Storage Set 1 & 2? She wants the big SSD to be the one that houses the operating system and have a smaller one on the 2nd one. We chose to go all NVM Express. What is everybody's feeling on the new fan lighting Digital Storm is using now the Cooler Master MasterFan Halo (RGB Fans)? I was very impressed with my Corsair RGB fans they included with my build this past year. Surprised they swapped. This is a gaming, internet browsing, and some office type build. If you have any suggestions please feel free to help. We are going to make a purchase here very soon. You guys are the best and I appreciate the advice you gave me this past year. Kudos to you all! Wow! Welcome to DS. That is a strong system. (and white w/blue!) The Aventum is a DS exclusive proprietary design. The window is on the right facing the front and mobo is installed upside down with the gpu on top. Get the clear gpu water (don't know which one DS uses) so you can see the insides easily, the gpu mounted upside down also. My only comment (the gurus will post better ones) is that the Storage is really backwards. The Storage Set 1 is for the OS and games you want to load fast. You don't want to clutter it and loose its advantage - speed. 1 TB is a lot. The Storage Set 2 is for every other thing (docs, photos, etc.) and it will load super fast anyway both being Nvme. Enjoy. |

Intel is coming with Rocket Lake 11th Gen CPUs and PCIe Gen 4 support by March(?). You will not get true Gen 4 Firecuda performance on that PCIe Gen3 Intel board. In addition, depending on just what is being processed, 2 NVMe SSDs can steal PCIe lanes from each other on cheaper motherboards.
That's too much $$ to sacrifice for no gain at all IMHO. An AMD 5800X build is PCIe Gen 4 now. There's not that much to be gained from NVMe SSD speed outside of what the OS and productivity apps are doing. I like the 500GB Firecuda for Storage Set 1 to keep it lean and mean. Maintenance scans are done in seconds on the smaller derive. Games run just fine from much cheaper SATA SSDs. |
