Hey Everyone! My new pc is finally here, it is amazing!! I've never experienced anything like this. Although I really need some tips on what all  I should do first, i downloaded comodo firewall, avg anti virus and unfortunately I got BSOD twice after trying to installing my lycosa cd and downloading alexa anti virus, but thank God it came back up bc DSO's phone line just closed for the day...so when it came back up my lycosa program worked and i decided to give up on alexa incase thats what caused it..., but it seemed to start back up after a restart in safe mode. My question is now when it boots up it always says Boot to disk even though nothing is in the drive..is this normal?

Also I want to run a CHKDSK to make sure everything is good but i dont know how, can anyone help me through this. Thankks DSO for this sweet rig, expect to see pictures everyone!! also how do i get to everest, is it on one of the cds i got?

Also any other tips for my new pc will be greatly appreciated!

If Everest is there you should be able to find it in "My Downloads", or hit your Start button at the bottom and look in All Programs for it there.  I would also go into Accessories/System Tools and run a defrag.  Vista allows you to schedule a defrag... I would.  Run a quick Windows Update for any new supplements to your OS.

Be sure and re-seat GPU, RAM and SC to assure all parts are tight.  Before anything, stand and just stare at it as it sits there looking back at you as if to taunt you.  Oh yes, it will taunt you, my friend.

You should not need to worry about CPU temperatures. My first suggestion would be to turn off the computer and re-seat your memory.

1. Remove the side panel to gain access to the inside of the computer.
2. Please do this on a hardwood/concrete floor. (Not Carpet).
3. Touch a piece of bare metal on the case to ground yourself.
4. Reseat your memory sticks (push down on the top and bottom tab for each memory stick so that it pops it out of the socket. Firmly push the stick back in and you will hear it click in and the tabs automatically lock back in position).
5. Also, reconnect your SATA (thin cable) going to the hard drives (disconnect and reconnect it, and follow the cable to your motherboard and do the same).

Sorry to hear that you are getting BSOD's.

As EdH63 mentioned, make sure all the hardware and cables are seated correctly.  Make sure you are properly grounded before touching your hardware because static electricity is not your friend.  Double check the data and power connectors, as they can come loose during shipping.  As for PCI Devices, just make sure they are firmly seated and aligned straight along the rear panel.

Everest is a program used to find out all sorts of information for your computer, and you are required to purchase a license to use it.  However if all you're looking for is your temps, there is a great freeware program that I use called SpeedFan.  It monitors temps, voltages, and of course, fan speeds.
