I'm planning on buying a new rig (Specs Below).  I wanted to stay around $2200; and I still might hit that since I dont plan on buying it till mid December or so.  This build is currently running me at $2399.  This here is my Montitor, so having a decent GFX card is important http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014124 , and I will probably get SLI later on.  I was wondering if there is anything I should know about for this build.  For example the case size, the 64bit vista, or the if the power supply is adequate for an SLI down the road.  My current rig is nearly 5 years old, and I have never been able to play games with AA on and stuff let alone High Settings heh. Oh while Im typing this I guess I'll ask if their is a military discount?  Also I just read a thread that a 8800 GT 512 will be comming out.  How does this compare with the one on the current build if anyone knows?

The 750W PSU is definately enough to run 2*640MB GTS with the rest of that config.

No one will know for certain what the 8800GT is going to bring to the table until nonbiased reviewers (ok, *less* biased reviewers) get their hands on the actual cards and run them through their paces. The testing done so far suggests they will be a good performer, but bear in mind these tests appear to be leaked by people that wish to sell the cards, so there may be credibility issues there. Tongue

What is known, at this time, is that the 8800GT is going to replace the 8600GTS and the 8800GTS 320MB GPU's. Other than that, as far as I'm concerned, it's wind in sails until we see more impartial benchmarking. It's fun to look at the leaked benchmarks, but not to be taken without a healthy dose of skepticism. The supposed release date is Oct 29th, so you won't have to wonder for much longer.

The 8800 GT is going actually going to replace the 8800 GTS 320 & 640 and to be released on Oct 29th priced at roughly $249 USD (512mb vers).

Definitely a card worth getting.

The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.
