Hey Hippies,
Would welcome any comments on this build: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=531979. I was going to wait for the new chips in Q3 but my current computer won't cooperate so probably buying next week. Budget: $4-4.5k for the rig. Expectations: Like every DS customer: I want to be able to rule the world and see it at a zillion (yes...a zillion) fps. Use: The usual games you read in these forums, as well as work I take home on the weekends. The work does not involve any high end graphics. Will also have to let the wife tool around on Photoshop so she doesn't complain about my gaming . Will probably go with DST4ME's recommendation and get a damn Dell monitor. For now, 24 inches. May upgrade to 27 inches once i can make more space. |

As long as you understand that you will never tell the difference between zillion fps and 60 fps, then zillion fps it is, but keep in mind, you are just flushing money down the drain and you will never even notice the performance difference.
so I would change your config to this, it still has more power than you will need: Here you go Ticket# 532228 --- $3881 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Thanks for taking the time to put together those builds.
So no zillion, huh...Yes I am aware of human limitations and fps... I also am, of course, aware that the cpu can't be upgraded but my present comp is dying fast so waiting that long is not an option. However, from reading these forums it seems the present SBs will do everything I want and last for quite some time. In addition, from reading the forums you seem to be a big fan of the Cooler Master 942 HAF X . What is it that makes it superior to the Black OPS Assassin? And air stage 1 is enough? Right now going with the 23 inch Dell because of space issues. Thanks again for your thoughts. It is much appreciated. |

HAF is bigger and with the extra 200mm fan, it will have 4 x 200mm fans plus one 140mm fan, that makes for great airflow, and its the great airflow/space/hotswap bay/costs less/and etc that I love.
SB runs much cooler then previous cpus, so yes a good cooler like Noctua NH-U12P can easily do stage 1 oc with SB. with sli 570, you will still get zillion fps in most games, there are only a few games at that res that will need sli. however keep in mind that for higher res, if you want high aa then you want more vram, by that I mean like the 2GB of 6970. My pleasure and good luck ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 29 Apr 2011 at 7:18pm |

So I went with your suggestion of the Haf X build. Thanks again for all the help.
I'm about to order a monitor and I'm going with Dell since I trust your suggestions. However, can't do the 27 or 30 inch monitors due to a lack of space. I can fit the 24 inch model. Any problems with the 24 or do you feel the extra cash is a waste for one more inch? Or are there any problems/issues with this model? http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-8277 |

Its upto you really, the u24 is great and has some extras but its the 2010 model while the smaller 23" is the 2011 model, its really upto you.
if you are going with that res, you won't tell the difference between 570 sli and 580 sli just fyi incase you want to save your self some money
