This is the one I would be getting if my carrier wasn't providing me with a new one.  If the one they provide sucks then I will probably get this one...

Can't decide between the ValetPlus Cisco Router and the Linksys E3000, both have near same specifications except the Linksys says Optimized for Gaming which the Valet does not. Of course price difference with the Linksys costing more...someone help me decide XD.

Sadly, there's no such thing as a good router for all situations. What works great with one person's network setup and home layout may not work at all in others. You're therefore going to find a lot of people who say "Manufacturer X sucks" because they've had a bad experience with that manufacturer's routers.

I wouldn't put too much faith in manufacturer's specs - just make sure whatever you choose has the minimum of what you want. Your best bet is to see what is highly rated and then buy from somewhere with a good return policy.

I've read several reviews that have rated the Netgear WNDR3700 you mentioned earlier well.

Personally I've had bad experiences from Linksys network gear in the past but I know other people swear by them. *shrug*

Good luck!

Go to speedtest.net and find out your internet speed, because that can help you choose a router that wont be a bottleneck for your internet speed, or vice versa.
