Hello to everyone that I have not got a chance to meet on the boards yet, I just recently bought my first build from DS and feel great about my decision.
I had some questions about maybe some possible shipping options if possible. I would like to change to Fed-Ex instead of UPS to ship my product because i've heard better things from friends and co-workers about Fed-Ex. I was also wondering if DS could offer a Improved Packaging offer and I will pay the difference. It's such a small price to pay to protect a $3,000 ++ Investment not to mention a peace of mind while waiting on it to arrive, and i'm sure most people would agree with me on that.
I would like the whole shabang, bubble wrap + peanuts + double boxing and whatever else it takes to keep my system just as it was when it was leaving the DSO building. All I ask is that when packaging think of it as an egg..yes an egg... a very expensive egg ..with a very thin shell.. =]
If this can be made possible I would GREATLY appreciate it and just let me know the fee and i'll be glad to pay it. I am ALL THE WAY in Georgia which is ALL THE WAY across the U.S. from the DSO office. I dont want those shipperz damaging my system and will go to whatever extremes to get it here just as it was when it left DSO!

They have a wooden crate option and have said before that they can use different shippers. Just need to call em.
Granted they didnt have to move it far for me but the box/packaging they use is very sturdy. they bubble wrapped it as well as packed it in high density foam.

Yeah, standard packaging worked very well with me. My rig arrived with no issues. Although, that crate is mac daddy! I may just order an empty crate so I can use that to move it around.

sweet! sounds good.. did you all go with UPS or switch over to Fed-Ex. I havent seen many Fed-ex trucks around my area so my only concern is the drivers ability to find my doorstep! haha.. I'll also leave a note giving permission to leave it because I may be at work when it arrives. I know sometimes changing carriers just makes stuff more complicated and isnt really worth it but I've been reading reviews on websties and i'm leaning towards shpping Fed-ex since i've heard all these awful ups stories.. i know it can happen with anyone but the idea is to lessen the percentage rate =P
That Wooden Crate sounds like a plan too. I wonder how much it cost extra
EDIT: Just found out the wooden crate cost 20 bucks.. worth it in my opinion and i'm also going with fed-ex .. now its all in God's hands ::prays:: =] Edited by Cr8ton - 21 Nov 2007 at 12:34pm |

I live in Alaska and must ship via air. Seeing as I hate UPS, I requested DHL and DS indiated they had no problem shipping via them. They also indicated they would ship Fed-Ex, so you should be able to pick your carrier.
Good luck on the shipping. Nice puter, I might add.
Super Dave

I just searched for the wooden crate option and it's $274. I would update my order to include it too if it was $20. Where did you see that price?
Here's the link I found: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=6&KW=wooden+crate

woooahh, i must of misunderstood the sales rep on the phone.. I don't think i'll go with the crate even though it does look pretty sweet. but not on my budget..for wood anyways =]
Thanks for pointing that out Genero..I contacted DS and quickly got it resolved. Thanks OlBull, I tried to make it a beauty within the 3,000 range and feel I did pretty well. Dave from DS helped me build it on the phone for a good gaming pc build.. I basically re constructed it completly with him on the phone and i'm extremly happy that he was able to help me put it together so nicely. lol it was kinda funny bc it started with one part then lead to another and before we knew it we had just rebuilt my pc ;) Edited by Cr8ton - 21 Nov 2007 at 1:16pm |

That's the same thing Dave from DS and I did, in fact, I saved a few $$$ based on his recommendations. Additionally, how cold I NOT trust a guy with the name of Dave. rothflmao!!!

Hey, Sundowner, I am in Tampa, was that 6 total days or business days? You are close to me so it would be close to the same. Just trying to get a handle on shipping time.
