Hello everyone.

I plan to be buying a new gaming computer in the month of June.
1. Budget, i would like to spend around $2700.00
2. Would like to play the games listed on max settings or very close to max.
3. Will be playing games, a small amount of web surfing. I will be playing WOW, Battlefield bad company 2, Crysis 2, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 (when it comes out, LOL and any new first person shooters that comes out.
4. I want the CPU overcloacked but not the video cards, I need it to preform well and be able to upgrade some later.

This is the build i have looked over a few times.

I opted out of getting the SSD to save a little bit of money, i can add one later. I choose the GTX 580 1.5 (overclocked) (single card) for now, later i can add another GTX 580 1.5 (over cloacked) SLI or even add 2 more GTX 580 1.5 (over clocked) to run SLIx3. I want the computer to run games well right now and be able to run new games, along with me being able to upgrade it later in one way or the other to help performance.

Ya, a bit NO on that config for you lol. Its all wrong and will suck in tri sli. Oced gpus are not recommended here, we can do them higher ourselves to a point where we actually see a difference, and stock oced cards tend to fail sooner then non oced ones.

what is the res you gonna be gaming at? do you have the monitor or are you looking for one? if looking for monitor what is the budget?

I am not exactly sure what res i will be running at. I plan to buy myself a monitor, about a 22" or 24" monitor. Something around $175.00 or so. I just want the system to run great and smooth for games and for me to be able to upgrade it later to keep up with games.

Um.. lower your OC stage, to stage 1. For gaming you will not notice anything with the OC being that high. So for long term life span on your CPU lower it to stage 1. No need for the 1200 PSU, as TRi SLi doesn't scale well on a p67 board/build. You're better going with a 1000 PSU.

Upgrading the fans you'll actually have louder smaller fans. The hafx comes with a front 230mm fan, top 200mm fan. So if you upgrade to the smaller 120mm fans.. there would be no point. Keep the stock fans, and ask DS to add a 200mm Coolermaster fan to the top, so you'll have 2 200mm on top.

And with your selection of monitor size.. i doubt you will ever need 3 580 cards pushing the res of a 22-24 inch monitor. At most you wouldn't even need 2 cards based off the games you're going to be playing. IMO get 2 570's (or 1 atm).. so you're not over spending on useless hardware that you wont even notice fps gains.

Also, the killer 2100 card shows barely any latency gains. Google the reviews.

You chose to get a "Chassis Mods: HailStorm & 950Si Case Only: CPU Processor Area: Drill and Mount a Side Window 120mm Fan Blow-Hole"... this is for the hailstorm case only... as you have chosen to get the HAFx 942 case.

around 24" you looking at around 1900 x 1200 res, for that res a single 570/580 can't give smooth game play in all games at highest settings with good aa, you will need sli.

at 1900 x 1200 you will not be able to tell the difference between sli 570/580, so no point in wasting your money on 580 or 580 sli.

this will give you single 570 with option ot add a second later:

Here you go Ticket# 564353 --- $2419 (To see this build click here)

Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans:

haf 200mm non led fan

this pc is what you call balanced in power, a pc that is balanced in power offers you the most/best it can do period.

you got a great case for great airflow, you got a great cpu oced to 4.5GHz or higher (4.5 will be more then you need), you got 8GB of ram (more then you need), single 570 gtx and the ability go sli if needed with 1000w corsair (5 year warranty) and the deluxe mobo, you got the A70 which beats the stage 2 lc coolers, you got the best reliable ssd the intel 320 (only ssd with 5 year warranty right now), and the fast 1TB BC for storage and fast transfer for storage, remember:

HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games

HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage

the other bs stuff that did nothing but waste money are gone.

For your res you will not need tri sli nor will you be able to tel the difference between dual sli 570 and tri sli 580.

but if for some strange reason you still want tri sli, then I suggest you wait for the highend sandybridge platform that comes out Q4 of this year (x79 platform), the 2600k and the p67 platform are the midrange sandybridge cpu and platform.

Thank you for your help, i did notice i selected a fan upgrade that could not be used in the case i selected. :(
I did look over the reviews and was not impressed with the Killer 2100. I will go with the on board networking.
I looked over some more of other people builds around my budget. I came up with a new build, its cheaper than what i had planned to spend, that will allow me to spend more money on a monitor.

Ok this is the new build i looked over some. With the cheaper price i can get a better monitor. Also will allow me to run another GTX 570 1.2 for SLI if i choose to do that.
If i do choose to run SLI GTX 570 1.2 later with the 1000 watt power be plenty?
Someone told me that to play Battlefield Bad Company 2, the SLI GTX 570 would be most helpful, said Battlefield Bad Company 2 pulls a lot of video to run on max settings.
Finally will this set up be good for gaming today for all games? Also will it be good for games for a few years to come? Like the other post i do plan to upgrade if i need to.

Why does your build cost $100 more than mine? and we both have the same thing. you may not know this and the word liquid cooling may have given you the wrong impression but I have the best cpu cooler between our configs.

for monitor wait till it goes on sale for $270 or $250 and get this:

Dell UltraSharp U2311H 23

its an IPS panel and has superior picture quality.

Thank you, your posts have been most helpful. I was typing my second post/build when you had posted yours, did not have time to look it over.
I will be going with your build, i am in need of a new gaming computer fairly soon, my old laptop cant take much more heh.
I will look around for that monitor you posted, i am sure i can use a monitor until i get that one or another very high quality monitor.
Thank you agian for the assistance. Big%20Smile

Well I would go with that one and when it goes on sale, we have a thread in the hardware section for when the u23 goes on sale and we see it, we post there, so subscribe to that post and once you get notification checkout the thread right away and if its on sale get it right away if you can, the sales for these monitors don't last long.

here is the thread

My pleasure and good luck

forget os boost, it does nothing. if it was important enough it made it to my config, if you don't see it, its because you don't want it.

I dont even get a thanks :(

I hate DST... :P

Edit: DST, the new Ivy bridge's will be coming out q1 - q2 of 2012, based off tomshardware, anandtech. Sucks to wait that long but they're going to rip apart any top end system. I'm doubting if Intel will release SB-E at q4.. but those are just my thoughts.

Ivy bridge is different story, but the x79 will be out Q4.

that is not very tick tock is it

I would not get Ivy anyways, its highend SB or haswell IMHO, cause haswell is gonna be a new architecture.
