Hello guys id like to start off by saying ive been looking around DS for some time now and have really liked what i have seen. From reviews and all the hard work that DS puts into each system its heart warming to know ill be taken care. Now on to what i need help with. At the moment im overseas and have decided that i have earned a little gift for myself. I wanted to buy a nice gameing pc that i could be proud of and be happy about for years to come. The only problem i have had is that ive been gone for some time and have fallen behind in the what is new and whatnot as far as computers go. So as i said im here for a little help and i would be greatful for the time you guys offer in provideing me assistance.
1. My budget
I'm not to worried about that but i would like to stay around 6000
2. Expectations
My expectations are to be able to play any game out there at max settings and without one little hint of fram rate issues. I would also like to be able to play accross up to 3 screens but i am not all about 3D at all.
3.Usage
I plan to play games for long pierods of time and also watch blue-ray movies also store plenty of movies and such
4.Special needs
storage space for movies, games, data and music
I have been browsing around and configured this ticket but i was wanting to know if i should be adding sumthing or maybe be taking things off that are not going to benifit me much.
The few concerns i have are
1. I have chosen the OC stage 3. will that be stable and will it be worth it or will it cause problems down the road?
2. I picked 2 GTX 570 cards will that provide the amount of graphics power that i will need to run any game out there at max settings?
3. With the OC i have selected do i need the stage 6 liquid cooling or can i lower it to a cheaper stage?
Again thanks in advanced for the help and i hope to soon be amonge the proud owners of a DS system

ok im no expert on this stuff but from what i have heard on here is that the i7 -2600k is better than the 980x in most applications. also dont go with the Corsair SSD, go with Intel they are the best. Secondly if you are going to go water cooling your going to want to get a different case, maybe the Hailstorm. As for your power supply that wont work. You are probably going to have to go with a 1200 watt since you have a liquid cooling system plus SLI, i recommend Corsair they are the best and like every on else says they have a 5 year warrenty. again i could be wrong on this stuff but hope that helps

- SB for proc at the moment, value is better than the 980X.
- Do you really need 12GB of RAM? 6GB/8GB is enough for most. - Corsair SSDs are good. Intels are better for reliability though. Haven't heard too many complaints about Sandforce controllers though, could be wrong. - Why do you need 4TB of storage? That's a TON of space... - Dual 570s over the 470s. That might cut it, don't know. What games will you be running? - Forget Zalman fans. Go with stock, or request some fans you researched. - I dispise fan controllers, if you need to constantly be aware of your fan speeds relative to temps to keep your system stable, then it's not rock-solid stable. - Forget the memory kit. Adds cooling you probably won't need unless you hit a super high overclock, and it's noisy. - Drop the OS Boost. - Bump up the PSU, at least 1000w I think. Not a expert though. - Add game and T-Shirt .Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme (Intel P67 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1000W Corsair (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (80GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: X25-M MLC Edition) (Extreme Performance) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (2TB Western Digital (7200 RPM) (64MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD2001FASS) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray & DVD Writer/Reader (Burn + Play Blu-Ray & DVDs) (12x BD-R) (Lite-On iHBS112) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1.2GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 6: Sub-Zero LCS Dual Loop: CPU & Dual SLI/CrossFire Video Cards H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Red) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock the processor between 4.7GHz to 5.2GHz (Liquid Cooling Upgrade Recommended) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: FREE: Hot-selling game with a NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 or above graphics card Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 5-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty $2000 leg room, anything else you wanna do? ![]() Edited by ablahblah - 31 Jan 2011 at 4:05pm |

thankyou very much for the assistance and for the feedback. now seeing as i got some cash left over would there be any other ideas for where to use it at? maybe a 3rd graphics card? i like the build you made ablahblah it looks awesome. will it be able to run any game out there?
Do you really need 12GB of RAM? 6GB/8GB is enough for most
figured the more the better lol, also is the 1600mhz you selected in the build better overall then the 2000 one?
- Why do you need 4TB of storage? That's a TON of space...
lol again firgured the more the better :P just dont want to ever hit any limits i supose :) Drop the OS Boost
it wont help me much?
Dual 570s over the 470s. That might cut it, don't know. What games will you be running?
ill be def hitting up wow and many FPS games. the thing for me is not what game ill be running but id like to be able to put anything in and be able to play max settings. The reason i selected the 570s is because ive ready that they are better overall to the 580s again i do like the build you put out there just what ways could it be amped up even more with the spare cash or is it already a beast that will take anything on

(Bumps) Performance is in DST and Justin.kerr's field, waiting for their response. That build I posted is a rough outline of what you should be looking at.

6/8GB is more then enough for gaming.
for gaming you wont notice the difference in ram speed. 8GB of 1600MHz ram: 8GB = amound of ram = more multi tasking 1600mHz = speed of ram for HDD, you can always add more later, don't put stuff you don't need in the pc, it will bring heat and draw power, tho HDDs don't draw much power but still, no point of it being there if its not needed. OS boost makes no difference in games or apps speeds. For 3 screens you may want to look at 6970 instead. Edited by DST4ME - 01 Feb 2011 at 2:03am |
