Topic: New Upcoming Cooling System By Digital Storm Posted: 01 Jun 2011 at 7:21pm |
We've been busy working on a new below 0°C cooling system that we can offer to our mid-range systems. This picture is one of the cooling blocks that our engineering team just made today. It's not a normal cooling system. The image shown is just one component of the entire system. This is a new mainstream below 0°C cooling system for any customer that wants to purchase a high-performance Digital Storm PC without having to buy a high-end $5K build.

Correct, they are made in-house. The block shown is just a prototype that's being tested. The final versions are going to be fully polished and with special plating as well. We're very excited about this new cooling system because this is something that we can offer to more of our customers. It's taking what we learned from our current Sub-Zero Liquid Chilled system and creating an efficient and effective cooling solution. |

That's awesome!
Just wondering though, will they be available in the ODE pre-builds at some point? I mean, could there be any chance that DS might put together some pre-built systems that have the new below 0 C cooling system in it if the system performs as hoped? This is another reason I love DS. Thanks Alex! |

No they wont be in the ODE's, the 600t is too small for a liquid cooled set up..

@Bloodluster1, great idea! However, this new cooling system is going to be made available for customized builds only.

Hey Alex,
I was planning on building a new computer with the Frostchill, but this may be a good reason to wait it out. Any news on when this baby will be available? |

This new system isn't going to be as powerful as our current Sub-Zero TEC system.
This will probably be out within the next 1-2 months. |

Nope, just a new cooling option which should work almost all of our case options minus the really small ones like the Enix.

Alex, you said the new cooling system will be less powerful than the current TEC sub-zero system and I am wondering if it will need any special requirements - like electrical/power requirements. I am thinking this new cooling system is a step down from the TEC Sub-Zero system which does have some requirements, so that's where this question is coming from.

Whats the price range like? Also, will this be a step up from the Frostchill option currently offered?

I'm not 100% sure, it will be more expensive than our Stage 4 liquid cooling system, but, far less than our liquid chilled system.
This is a step up from our liquid cooling options. |

Sorry, we wish. It's still complicated to mount and setup to prevent condensation.

Why not have the DS logo CNC'd on the CPU block?

If DS could fit one of those in a laptop that would be amazing! But then again, it would be more like a lapbox instead of a laptop.
