Hey all, just found this site, looks fantastic. I have a few questions though because I'd love to have the support backing of a company like this without having to build my own rig again :) Budget - $2000 - 3000 US Expectations - I have (2) 144hz Montiors. I'd like to be able to run (overwatch mainly) but FPS / other games at 144+ FPS consistently (without being forced out of "borderless windowed, gotta have my distractions!) Usage - will be heavy gaming. temped / planning to use my old rig as a streaming / storage rig. (Not super concerned with 4k, 1440p or 1080 suits me just fine!) I've been looking around at a few configs, but I'm not entirely sure on them, because I know the limitations of my own setup currently (i5-4690K @ 4.3Ghz OC / 16GB 1600 RAM / 970 GTX OC), but not how the newer gen CPU / mobos / GFX's work and such. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks again! and I feel as though I'm *barely* able to hit my "acceptable" margin https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=2071288 ^ Current build I'm playing around with.

Upped the psu to match. Changed your primary drive to the 979 Pro, a m.2 with NVME interface vs SATA interface withDS m.2. Many times faster. Changed cpu cooler to a Corsair with better warranty vs DS cooler with warranty that expires with pc warranty, plus you know what you’re getting. Hope this helps. You could just upgrade your gtx 970 to a RTX 2080 for a big bump in gaming. Your 4790k is still relevant, but up to you. All new is nice. I meant to go 16gb ram. 8 GB is still very good but 16GB has become the norm with some games and flight sims recommending it. Edited by bprat22 - 20 Nov 2018 at 3:04am |

A little bit of a typo here. He changed your primary to the 970 EVO.The 970 PRO is faster yet, but you would never notice the difference, and the EVO still has the 5 year warranty. It's speed absolutely smokes the SATA drive as noted. The RTX 2070 is 2x as fast as your 970 if that seems enough. It will max settings at over 60 frames across the board at 1440p. Obviously the 2080 is faster, but you pay a bunch for that. Personally, I like the video only upgrade to the 2080! |
