Hi everyone,

looking to upgrade my system and searching for the ultimate bang for the buck platform for gaming. My primary game is WOW but also play crysis, FEAR, Spore, warhammer etc...

I have a HANNS G 27.5in monitor running at 1900x1200 HDMI input.

Graphics questions:
I have read a couple of references in the forums regarding resolutions at or above 1900x1200... Isn't a GTX 295 card, basically 2 GTX 260 cards on the single board? if this correct would it not run at 1900x1200 rather easily?

A future upgrade possibly by x-mas is to upgrade to dual 27.5 @1900x1200... Any ideas???

System Build questions:
Extreme 2
I have a couple of minor tweaks and would like to know if its something that can be done while preserving the incredible cost savings outlined in the pre-configured systems.

Is the base system capable of supporting additional cards for future SLI upgrade?

Is it possible to upgrade to Stage 3 cpu+GPU cooling?

Thank you in advance and i look forward to your answers!

Welcome to the forums!

Thats about right about the GTX 295, however, 2 GTX 275's are cheaper and will perform better than 1 GTX 295.

I don't think its possible to make any changes to the prebuilt..which is one reason why you save so much money.

I will post a build in a second. sit tight!

edit: Did you have a budget in mind?

I don't have a set budget but really looking for the best value for a dedicated gaming rig... that will easily run at 1900x1200 for gaming and possibly do it with dual monitors...

Thanks for the welcome!

Here, I was unsure of your budget and other needs, What are your views on hard drive speed and space? I left the original one on their. but it can be upgrade to an SSD.  You've got 3 GTX 275's which is about a 4 fps different than 3 way sli GTX 285's.  1000w psu is enough to run 3 video cards.. and i noticed you wanted Stage 3 liquid cooling for both CPU and GPU's.  Tell me what you think, everything on their can be changed to what you want/need.
$4224.00 before instant savings.

I think I might have made a mistake, I gave you 3 video cards to run 1920 X 1200, where 2 will suffice for that, 3 is for monitors of the 30" size..

However I am unsure about the aspect of 2 monitors.  If im correct then 2 GTX 275's will be enough, and the cost of both the video and the liquid cooling will be dramatically lower.

Hopefully DST4ME will come and save the day.

EDIT: With a 750w power supply which is good for 2 video cards but not 3 the cost is down to $3562, where with a 1000w power supply which is only if you are planning to upgrade to a 3rd (if it isn't already needed for 2 monitors at 1920X1200)
is $3688. Sorry for the confusion.

all 3 will do fine, if your room temp is warm/hot (80c) then liquid cooled cpu/gpu will give you the best temps.

yes 295 is in internal sli and performs like a set of 260 gtx.

for games like wow that don't support sli, single 275 performs better then a 295.

the enthusiast 2 will support tri sli.

you can't change the aspects of perbuilds.

Is the EVGA X58M in the Enthusiast 2 prebuild a micro ATX board?  It seems to have the same designation as the MSI version of the X58 board.  It seems like it's different than the board that is the Extreme 2 and 3 builds that is listed as EVGA X58?

No worries DST4ME.  I was just verifying in case I was incorrect.  I tried to look up info on that EVGA X58M board and could not find anything of substance.  I assumed that it was the EVGA brand of the MSI board so it was indeed micro ATX.

Yes, i'm fairly sure it's the micro board, and that can only support dual SLI.

Keep in mind that if you have big cards (ones that take up 2 slots, like the GTX 275) and you go SLI with the micro you will not have access to any other slots, just the two pcie slots that the gpus are in.
