For gaming for sure... Along with graphics work using Photoshop and Illustrator usually at the same time... I am ready for a upgrade... Thoughts and comments are welcomed... My last DS build was in 2011 and it is still going pretty strong and the only thing I have ever replaced were the fans... I have upgraded it to SSD drives and increased the system memory... Welcome back tsranger! I have 4 DS rigs since 2011, all still impress.
First, the virus situation causing delays in China factories, along with tariffs delaying parts resupply in Chinese and US Customs...You should make sure with DS Sales that all parts you are ordering are in stock now. As this is an Adobe Creative and gaming build, I think I'm pretty safe to assume your monitor choice will be an IPS color quality panel and probably at least a 1440P/2K. I like your top Intel I9-9900K 8-core/16 thread CPU, 850w PSU, your 3X Samsung 970 Plus M.2 NVME SSD drive selections, and top Corsair ML Fan upgrade. There are a few things I would suggest can be improved if your budget can flex just a bit. Velox Build2 Config # 2879234 $3852 minus DS SALE $300 off = $3552 *Free Stage 1 Overclock of the excellent Intel I9-9900K for stronger CPU performance 24/7... Intel K Class processors are designed to be Overclocked... *Upgrade from entry level board to a stronger full featured midrange Asus Z390 Strix-H with excellent ASUS ROG SupremeFX S1220A High Definition Audio CODEC (Realtec). *Upgrade to 32 GB 3000 mHz Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB RAM for higher quality & Corsair lifetime RAM warranty (DS RAM only has a 1 yr warranty) *Save -$173 and drop the extra sound card. On- Motherboard sound codecs these days are excellent and handle multi channel Hi-Res quality sound. Try it and you can always add a sound board later on yourself if you decide it's still needed. *GPU upgrade to stronger midrange RTX 2070 Super video card. This GPU is the do everything well card in NVidia's lineup, and is used by a lot of Adobe content creators here on the forum. I think the RTX 2070 Super would serve you better at 2k/1440P resolution...while the 2060 is more of an entry level 1080P resolution GPU. NVidia RTX cards can now utilize more Adobe 10 bit colorspace tools that used to be reserved for NVidia commercial GPU's. I think these changes result in a much better performing build. That's my 2 cents...see what you think. Normally I would also suggest the Corsair AIO coolers over the DS brands for higher quality/stronger performance and longer 5 yr warranties, but that choice seems to be absent from the configurator at the moment. I don't know why, but it's something you could discuss with DS. (I normally would advise an upgrade to the Corsair H110 240mm AIO cooler, or the bigger Corsair H115i 280 mm AIO cooler.) +1
(Means I endorse Hockeybuck's analysis and suggestions down the line.) For just a few $$ more in most cases, moving up to the name brand parts gets you a significantly stronger factory warranty which might be more useful than the 1 year DS parts coverage. DS offers quality "private label" parts that are less expensive precisely because they come with more limited coverage. |
