This will be my third computer from Digital Storm, and beside a few minor issues the pc's have been rock solid. I tend to keep my computers for a long time and mostly game at 1440p, but I wouldn't mind considering 4k with the new rig.
A couple of questions: 1) I know the 14900K and the 4900 PSU are power hungry, will the 1000 PSU enough head room, or should I consider the 1500 PSU (I know this is over kill but there doesn't seem to be a mid-range option). 2) Cooling: On the first rig I went with the Noctua air cooler, but I had issues with it shipping and not being broken. I see that DS has brought it back, have they solved the damaged shipping issues? I prefer air cooled, but my second rig has the AIO cooler, if not do I need the Stage 2 AIO or Stage 3 (3 fans)? 3) Fans: When I originally purchased my second pc, I upgraded the fans to Corsair ML PRO Series for better airflow. I don't see those as an option, do I need better fans over the existing standard chassis fans? Thanks for your help! Budget: 5k+ Expectations: I keep my computers for 5+ years. Congrats. That is a very nice system. You will have no issues with a 4K monitor if you want to go get one. The Velox is very good for air cooling. I have a Noctua on mine cooling a 13900K and it keeps it quite under control. Right now the P-cores are running at 46.0C and E-cores at 43.0C. Articles I have read state that the 14900K runs very hot so if not the Noctua get the 3 fan AIO like you have. As to fans, when I ordered mine you could get Corsair fans but...it changes with availability. I don't know about power requirements but you should be ok. I always order the biggest psu available. Enjoy. ![]() Edited by hoserator - 14 Feb 2024 at 2:33pm |

Probably going to switch to the AMD 7800x3d since it's only for gaming and based on the reviews will perform better at less heat/power.

Agree. The 14900K is a total waste of unneeded power. You should look at this and do some reading. IMHO, the 14600KF is your CPU for the next 5+ years.
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-14600KF-vs-Intel-Core-i9-14900K/m2213004vs4151 Just 6% less for gaming than the top proc? This is not the i5 as we have known it before. CPUs are so far out in front of gaming, it's ridiculous. And they will stay there for years. |

44I love my 14600KF, and I plan on keeping this DS PC for 10 years like I did with my 1st one. retired the older DS PC, but it still runs games pretty good for it's age.
