Going to order Velox with 5950X and 6900XT. So I have a several weeks to wait yet before the 6900XT is available. I've decided on everything except the hardline loop and cables.
Chrome/Copper tubing with red cables. Clear hardline with red fluid and black cables. Clear hardline with red fluid and red cables. Purely an aesthetic decision or is there better longevity to copper tubes and maybe no worry about discoloration or warping over time? Help me decide! |

The 6900XT aren't due to be released until Dec. 8th.
Any of those choices on your cooling lines will last just as long as the other. The soft tubing, according to others, has fewer problems with leaks. Personally, having had custom cooling on my last rig, I won't do it again. Requires occasional top offs and a flushing every 2-3 years. Not to mention it costs you more. I saved money by going with and AIO cooling system on the CPU that never needs maintenance and currently running an ASUS TUFF Gaming RTX 3080 on my new DS Velox, no water cooling on it. That card runs cool under a great load, around 60C tops no matter what I throw at it. Don't feel the need to spend money water cooling the card. There really is no reason for a custom cooling system unless you are in to extreme overclocking, in my opinion. But hey, if you just want it, get it. Edited by fwfdfireman - 09 Nov 2020 at 4:44pm |

Yeah I do want it just for the looks. I've had custom loop systems and aio and air systems and you are right, the custom loop is the most hassle, but maintaining is a lot easier then building it. It's just so satisfying to look at! |

Congrats. Be aware that the Velox's window is on the right side (facing the front), the mobo installed upside down and gpu(s) on top. Don't know which type of hard plumbing is best. I have not seen complaints about bad tubing in the forum. It usually is not the tubing causing the problem, ie. LEAK. I would imagine that DS would not offer an option to give themselves extra work after delivery so go ahead and order to your satisfaction. Also keep in mind that with any type of hard tubing, when and if you ever decide to upgrade your gpu(s) you will have to remove and replace all related plumbing since it will most probably not fit. You will have to build it or have a shop do it. With soft, probably new fittings are all you will need. Good luck, keep us posted and do send us images of that beast when you get it. ![]() Edited by hoserator - 10 Nov 2020 at 4:25am |
