Hey guys,

Please take a look at this and let me know if any improvement's ?I am not that knowledgeable on MOBO's. I was thinking of getting DDR5 RAM but not sure its worth it for my applications.

This will be my 3rd DS build and second Velox. I am flexible on a lot, just looking for a Beast of a rig for long term gaming. I do have dual monitors atm.
I do use it for light work...mostly excel and emails.

Thanks !

I think you're in fine shape. I like the mobo, and the consensus seems to be DDR5 has some growing to do yet. You might consider a 980 PRO for Primary drive. It's almost double the speed of the 970 EVO for $50. If you want to save, get the 500GB. It's actually a better size for a "C" drive, and more storage is simple to install later.

I'm very mindful of the extreme pricing demanded for the top cards, and the huge leap forward the 3000 series took over the 2000 cards. A 3070 is better than the top 2080 Ti, simply because it's pretty much the same speed, with all the tech upgraded:

https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-3070-vs-Nvidia-RTX-2080-Ti/4083vs4027

The same thing is going to happen this Fall when the 4000s come out. Pricing may not be where we all want it at that point, but I'm convinced it will not be double MSRP anymore. A 4070 will be stronger than a 3080 for sure, and it may only cost the difference you're going to pay between a 3060 Ti and a 3080. That's by way of saying you should only buy the card you absolutely have to have at these prices. You have not said what monitor res you're trying to power, but the 3060 Ti performs very well at 1440p without breaking the bank. It's pretty much a 2080 SUPER, only better. Rest assured it will handle dual monitors with no problem.

I just received my Lumos and a few comments on your build.
1) I would probably switch to Level 2 cooling. For 40$ it adds another fan. Just my preference for keeping everything cool on the chip.
2) I did a lot of research on the MotherBoards. I would keep the one you chose.
3) I agree with switching to the 980 Pro for the primary drive. My system completely boots in under 15 seconds, it is soooo fast.

Beg pardon. I missed that you had selected the single fan cooler. You definitely want dual fan cooling for that proc. Thanks to JVCJr79 for catching that.
