I am new to this web site, and kind of bad with computers, so I'm having trouble coming up with a good build. I was wondering what liquid cooling is like vs. air cooling, and which video card brand tends to have the best performance. I have a low budget (1500-1700), and am having trouble finding a good way to get the price down. Right now I don't use my PC very much, because it's so slow, and don't game at all, so I don't know what res I use. I'm pretty sure that my monitor is 24-inch.

----any Ideas?

A couple edits

-I do want to start gaming
-I will use all of my old extras (keyboard, monitor, mouse etc)
-I will be waiting awhile to buy a system because I still need to get more money, but want to try to set a general goal

With your limited budget you're going to have to go with a P55 based system.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing as the 750 easily overclocks to the same performance that the 920 provides.  It is however a dead socket and you won't be able to upgrade your processor in the future.  I personally have never bothered to upgrade my processor in any computer I own.  Typically because I only upgrade my computer every 3 or so years and I either have always just added more ram, upgraded my video card or bought a new PC.

This build leans towards the further end of your budget but it is what I would aim for in your current position.

this looks good, but isn't the air cooling upgrade only for i7, also why ATI as opposed to Nvidia?

if you are refering to Herniter's build, the I would not recommend that one.

ati because right now its offerers the best performance for right now and future games, and as an nvidia fan, it pains me to say that.

for stage 1 oc air like Noctua or v8 is great and plenty.
