I'm curious to what you guys would think of my configuration I put together recently, I'm looking to see if anyone has suggestions for ways to save money, or things that should be added.

Depending on what resolution you run at I would consider going with the 9600GT over the 8800GTS because the price is far cheaper and you only lose 10-20 fps.

My in game resolution is 1024x768. So, what do you think?
Also, one of the things I'm after is an almost lag free gameplay, so FPS is a good thing not to lose. Edited by Ruddyn - 25 Feb 2008 at 9:39pm |

Id personally go with the 9600 also, since 1024x768 is not a very big rez to be honest now a days.

Well, that saves a chunk of money, but will my gameplay suffer much from the downgrade?

This site should help you make a decision. Personally I would get the new
8800gts (G92) 512mb... but ds does not have it yet. So the next best mid priced card is the 8800gt 512mb.

I am referring to the new (G92) version. This is based on 65nm process the old was based on the 90nm process.

The only GTS with 512MB of RAM has always been g92, and it is a fairly recent addition to the 8800 series. There is no such thing as a GTS 512 built on the g80 process.
The 320MB and 640MB have never been g92. They are older versions of the card. I believe that DS has all of them in stock, but it would be foolish to get a 320/640 version. Nvidia was beyond retarded with their naming scheme... hence the confusion. |
