Will a generic pc power cord work with the Corsair 1000 Watt power supply?   For some reason the power cord was not included, waiting on a response from DS.   Thanks for anyone's help in advance.  I have a old PC cord that fits the system but I do not want to turn it on in case it would cause issues.

Generic = Generic.

There is the special cable for the 1300+ watt psus, but you can use a generic there too most of the time.

Standard replacement computer power cables come in two sizes most commonly

18 AWG or 16 AWG... 18 is the narrower and is good for any standard PSU that does not require a 20 Amp outlet. The PSU you are talking about at 1000W is not a 20Amp wall current model, it is likely 10-12 amps at full draw, so 18 should be fine (This is what comes with virtually every boxed PC and PSU out there.) In fact your PSU is the same as mine and the cable that came with my PSU is 18 AWG.

16 AWG is thicker by a goodly margin and could handle higher amperage draws, like say from a 1500 Watt PSU operating at 80% + usage.

As far as compatibility there is no issue, if you want to know if the current is to much for your cord, plug it in, power up your PC, let it run for 15 minutes or so and feel the power cord itself, if the cord feels warmer than air temp that is a good indication the current draw is too much for the cable.
