    Posted: 15 Nov 2007 at 11:23am
On Nov 1st, I send an email to [email protected] asking for someone to help me set up a cost-no-object high end HD video editing system.  I received no response.  Resent the email on Nov 9 and have still had no response.

I've been on the forums here for awhile but need more one on one assistance from a DS expert at the moment (here is okay but preferrably by email).

I could handle this by phone but I'm not good friends with the phone.

Can someone point me to a person who can handle this for me?

Thanks,    Michael

In the next month I will be purchasing a $6000+ HD-video editing (AVCHD) and Photoshop CS3 system from Digital storm...my interim system spec is clipped below (with the insertion of an as yet unreleased CPU and a third HDD).

I've been around the net asking questions and I've been on your excellent forums asking more, but I need to start refining some of the information and asking questions I don't have clear answers to.  I'm ready to start a discussion with someone in sales who can guide me through the remaining decisions.  I prefer to start this conversation by email and then take it to the phone when it's time to finalize the purchase (the phone and I are not the best of friends).  Can you have someone who understands Photoshop and high end HD video editing requirements get in touch with me by email?

A few of the questions I'm aware I still have...

1.  Single quad core (OC'd QX9650 when it releases on the 12th) versus two Xeon quad cores (about which latter I understand very little).

2.  64bit versus 32bit Vista and whether dual booting XP32 and Vista64 is the best possible solution.

3.  RAID-0 pair of 74Gb Raptors versus one of the new solid state alternatives for drive C, with a large third drive for storage.  Or perhaps a 1Tb RAID-0 four HDD setup to cover everything instead.

4.  Case and specific liquid cooling choices with emphasis on low noise.

5.  Video cards.  Tentatively considering the new GeForce 8800GT.

Lots of other questions...plus ones I don't know I have.

I'm not so much asking questions about these here as I am giving an idea of the kinds of questions I still need to understand so you can throw the right person at me.

Looking forward to setting up a wonderful DS system.       _/\/\ichael{R}

it is easier for you to call us with such a request.  1-866-817-8676

And as far as overclocking, no matter what you may have heard and where, we do not guarantee any specific overclocks.  Period.  There's too much liability when we're working on a system that someone guarantees a specific overclock and the system crashes.  Next thing you know, 4 weeks later, 18 processors replaced, the system still isn't stable at said overclock and you're calling us up irate that we're taking forever.

Now as far as what you want, it seems taht you know already what you want, and you have a configuration.  Please call us so we can go over it.  That is the best and easiest way to get help from one of our staff.

Okay, I was trying to avoid the phone route until the final purchase phase.  I have a ton of questions and would be more comfortable on email, but...

As for the overclocking number I included, I put that in only as a what-if.  I of course trust DS to come up with the best/safest OC level.

I will give a call.

Thanks, Kelly.    Michael

I would think anyone at DS would be pretty confused about what you wanted them to do.  I couldn't tell if you were asking specific questions or making general statements that applied to some future contact that you would initiate.

They must get a bunch of emails of general inquiry and it is not good business to just spend a lot of time guessing what a person wants to know.

It makes far better sense to pick up the phone and call.  Otherwise get your questions answered on the forums.  And don't expect anybody to answer a laundry list.

But I am sure you have good intentions but you have to expect that there are some limits as to how a business communicates to potential customers.

Most of the questions you are asking can be found by reading the forums various topics and threads.  I suggest you do that.  Or use the telephone.

Regarding the no response to email, our SPAM filter caught it. Sorry about that. If you don't hear back from us by the end of a day, from sending an email, most likely we never received it.
