Hi dave1983.....have you re-booted pc since driver update?
Try with pc on, unplugging and plugging back in the speakers. Sometimes needed to reset. Go to lower right of screen, task manager, hidden icons and double click Realtek HD Audio Manager and see if the setup is right. And hit the Test icon to see if sound goes to speakers. Go to Start>Control Panel>Sound>see if speakers has green check. or Control panel>Device Manager>Sound/audio>Realtek>see if device working properly is listed. If still a problem might have to update or roll back driver Edited by bprat22 - 06 Mar 2012 at 10:24am |

Also, have you tried to plug the speaker/headphone into the green port on the back of the motherboard?
Here's a good image that shows the port: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviewimages/asus-sabertooth-p67/asus-sabertooth-p67_input-outputs.jpg

Thanks for the replies, I tried everything suggested. I originally had the jack plugged into the line in port, I switched to the green port as suggested by Alex. That did prompt me to identify the device which I Did I set them as left and right speakers. Still no luck. I have restarted my pc, I have updated to the most current version of my realtek driver. I have tried with the pc turned on, all the different ports. All of my drivers in device manager for sound say they are working properly. There are several nvidia high def audio drivers and 1 realtek in the sound category. I'm at a loss here. the pc is recognizing the speakers and the drivers appear to be working. they are turned on and volume is up and its not muted and still no sound.

Try this, uninstall the Realtek software which should also remove the audio driver. Then, try to install the driver from the motherboard driver disc to see how that works out for you. |

Yep, several drivers listed with Realtek in Device Manager is normal. The only other thought and a looooong shot is to go Bios, del key on boot, and look for audio in Advanced tab. Make sure it's enabled. Check your mobo manual. Who knows? If all else fails, call DS and have one of their techs crawl into your machine on remote access and look around. I think warranty would cover this but not sure.

Ok, I unistalled the driver from device manager, I then restarted the pc to make sure unistall was complete. I installed the realtek driver from mobo disc, restarted, still nothing. I went into mobo bios and confirmed that the hd audio device was enabled. This is very frustrating, just got a brand new DS ODE level 3 and it is amazing, I would really love to be gaming right now.

Just one more thing.... try turning off Pc, unplug from wall and then hold in power button for 10 seconds to discharge residual on mobo. Wait a few minutes and plug in and re- boot. Again, a loong shot.

This is ticking me off One more thing and please don't t take offense.....when you go into Realtek Control Panel, even with the volume barometer turned up, is there a red small x in the audoi Icon on the right, meaning Mute. Also have you tried your headphones on front top panel next to fan control knob? That's sll I have

I finally got it working. Originally I think it was a driver issue, as I tried both headphones in the top port on top of the case as well as in the line in port and the green port on the back. then I tried speakers in the ports on the back with no luck. but after updating my drivers I (like an idiot) plugged the the headphone jack from my keyboard (which has mic/audio port in it) into the remote for the speakers, which it turns out has been bypassing the speakers. So after having done all of the steps listed my only real problem was i needed to reinstall the realtek driver. Anyhow, thank you very much both of you for your time and suggestions, I am sorry for my stupidity.
