outside of the couple extra degrees of cooling
would the Asetek perform well enough....especially
considering the extra bulk and weight of the Noctua 14
being shipped 2000 miles? This is my second machine so I know
packing is good but you never know.....I already have the Noctua 12
and it is a beast in a Corsair 800D case!
I just read a note where Alex states that the Asetek actually
is not that bad if you don't mind the extra couple of degrees.

i think it gets a bad rap becuase for LC one would typically think it should kick air in the teeth, and it doesnt.
if you really want it becuase you think it looks sweet, i dont think youll regret it, but functionality the better choice is the noctua

Hey guys. I am sure the Asetek is plenty adequate as I actually had the 120 rad version. however the quality of the Noctua is superior IMHO. If you can fit it on your mobo I'd seriously go Noctua NH-14D after that NH-U12P SE2. You'll get better temps and way less noise. The Akasa -sp? fan that came with my Asetek was noisy. When I switched from my Asetek to my Noctua NH-U12P SE2 I got 6*C less load temps and while not silent is very quiet.
So I think Alex is right it isn't that bad if you have to scrap together every penny to get a rig (like I did) but the Noctua definitely worth the extra few bucks for 99% of people. The best guys on this forum will tell you go high end air or legit high end H20. I don't think the Asetek are P.O.S or anything like that as anything beats the pos stock intel thing but seriously go Noctua or high end H2O here. @Semper I don't have experience with that ECO ALC thingy but I suspect it's the same story...just mediocre. The only thing i can really say for the Asetek is i think it would be easier to ship. If you do get the Asetek i'd definitely try a push/pull with better fans. Just my 2c.
