I have a Noctua DH-15S in my Velox, and it's amazing. I'll never go back to liquid cooling.

Noctua are legends. Some of the most quiet fans and coolers I've ever owned and almost always impressive performance for the given size (big, huge, huger, and then Noctua-er

+1 Noctua air coolers are the best unless you are a serious overclocker and need serious cooling. ( and then you go N2). They are unbeatable in cooling, are also quieter and simpler than any AIO. I am very glad DS is back offering them. ![]() |

Back when I was building my last rig here, the Noctua coolers were discouraged pretty heavily. Not only were they "not as good" a cooler as the liquid but had a high percentage of shipping breakage due to how heavy they were and DS, if I'm not mistaken, quit offering them. What changed?

That's a good question. Maybe DS found a safe way of packaging them, and shipping them? I'm curious.

I don't see how the Noctua could be any worse in shipping as the ginormous GPUs that are being put in rigs these days. Perhaps that's why DS decided to include them again in their builds.

Perhaps. I was hoping a DS guy might answer this. If that has been solved I may consider the Noctua instead of liquid next time. |

I will go with a Noctua by special order even if not offered as an option. No more open loops or AIOs for me. Only hybrid gpus. They do keep the temps inside the case down.

Does anyone know the answer to why DS stopped offering them but now offer them? What changed?

There's some massive misinformation in that article. It's very click bait and misleading.
There's so much information they are leaving out and the title of this thread is just as misleading. Noctua makes amazing air coolers, but don't be fooled by click bait threads like this or articles like that. |

It's hard to say for sure. Originally DS stopped offering them because they were seeing elevated rates of damage during shipment. My first DS rig had a Noctua cooler and I didn't have any issues and I thought it was exceptionally well packaged. That said, DS was obviously working with significantly more data than I was. As to why they brought them back, I'm guessing DS either tweaked their packaging to accommodate the Noctua better, or they simply realized demand for them was high enough to offset the "risk" of shipping them. Possibly both. I honestly never fully agreed with DS's decision to stop using them as other builders were still offering them this entire time, but obviously what DS does and does not offer is entirely their prerogative.

I'm so impressed with my Noctua DH-15S cooler. My CPU has never exceeded 70C with that cooler, and my case fans are only running at 800 RPM. I'm really shocked at how well it works.

Hi Meller, long time no see. I have a Noctua DH-15S (on top of an old i7-8086K chip) also and the whole system is soooooo quiet!! And stays very cool. I am sold on them.

Regarding packaging, we have found ways to protect them better with our expanding foam.

Oh it's easily one of the best air coolers on the market. I stand by their products. Just saying this article is misleading and click baity. |

Hey Meller - good to see you around still!! So, as I'm slowly beginning to think of perhaps getting a new rig, out of curiosity, would recommend the Noctua over something like the 360mm or 420mm Arctic Freezer II AIO or maybe the DeepCool LT720 360mm for smaller cases? Also, would your recommend a Noctua correction frame for more effectiveness? These are some things I've been considering while thinking about a new rig. |
