There has been a lot of talk in diffenent threads about clearence issues and the D14 cooler.
Here is a link to a FAQ section on Noctua's Home Page: One question is "Can I use Corsair Dominator Ram with the ND-D14?" Answer: "The NH-D14 is a large cooler that extends over the RAM slots on most mainboards.
While DDR2 Corsair Dominator don't fit underneath the cooler, DDR3
Corsair Dominator do fit when the removable top heatsink is taken off as shown
below. Please also note that the NF-P12 fan can be moved upwards or taken off in
order to improve RAM compatibility as shown" I didn't know that the fan could be moved upwards to give added clearance. I think this might effect the cooling though. There is a good diagram that gives all the dimensions for the D14. It looks like the Corsair DDR3 Dominator Memory without it's coolilng fins is close to the maxium height of memory that would fit under the D14. I tried many difference ways to search to find the height of the DDR3 Dominator memory with or without the cooling fins to no avail. If someone has this information or can find it we could add it to this post. |

My DDR3 Corsair Dominator GT RAM fits under the D14 without issue, and I still have the red heat spreaders attached. Motherboard is the Rampage III Extreme.

Hi Asangard.... Nice post. Good place for others to post real world results like Tidgxor just did.
Here's what I have.. Corsair Vengeance ...w/heat spreader = 50mm w/o = 33mm I have these with a A70 cooler and the stick under the fan causes the fan to be shifted 15-20mm away from mobo, offset on cooler. Low Profile sticks....... 26 -30mm Corsair Dominator..... w/ heat spreader = 54mm( 2 " ).... w/o spreader = 35 mm. ![]() Hi Tidgxor.... It fits under the fins or just the fan or both?

Had to double check, I don't poke my head in there as much as I used too
![]() Its under the front-facing fan of the D14. For reference it definitely couldn't fit under the fins with the head spreaders on though. |
