If an i7 920 has a max load temp of 82C @ 3.8 GHz on the Noctua, what do you think the max load temp would be with the stage 3 LC @ 3.8 GHz?

not sure but it will be lower with LC, by how much I'm not sure, but even if its 75c or 72c that is great difference from 82c.

Agreed. Hmm.  Now I am thinking about going LC.  If I knew for sure I could get 10C from it I would.  I will have to check other LC systems and see what their OC temps were.

Wow your core voltage is extremely low. I think mine was 1.3 v.  My Bus Speed was 200Mhz with a x19 mult.  Did you fine tune the OC yourself?

53C? dang!  That can't be all due to LCing.  You have a chip from a super batch? hehe

Yes, my OC, very good chip. very good water cooling.  With a good triple rad, good block, 1200-1500 rpm fans you still should be able to keep temps under 70c unless the room is very hot.
One of my rigs runs 3 triple rads for the CPU, and a triple for the motherboard block. Will probably liquid cool the next genera ration graphics cards with another triple, for now I am impressed with the toxic stock cooling, so sticking with air.
It is a sickness. so don't start. Cry

As impressive as that is, it doesn't really tell me much about the FrostBite system though.  Anyone have data for it?

Yes that is right.  The FrostBite is LC.  Is yours the DS Frostbite system?

My DS computer is air cooled. The rest of my computers are my home designed water. lol

I have a C0/C1 stepping 920, really bad batch. A very poor chip.. With a swiftech triple rad, Swiftech GTZ block, and a really crappy pump. V core is 1.44 @ 4.0Ghz, and it will hit max of 70C in a warm room.  I have a screen shot if you want. Star

So no one has a DS Frostbite with specs showing how well it cools?

it cools well but to compare how it would do with air, the closest fair way would be to take a system that is on air, then take that exact same system and put it on liquid.

BillDempsey posted some where that he took his pc from having V8 to LC and found his load temps to be much better.

Here's my own experience with my DS system(s). LC affects the load temps much more than the idle temps on the CPU. In my case, the CPU idle temps were identical (air was 1c lower) between a really good air cooler (Noctua NH-U12P) and the basic Frostbite LC. However when the computer is working really hard (heavy load), the LC system pulled into the lead far enough to keep my own system from overheating. Since the load temps are the ones you really need to worry about, LC definitely helps there, especially with overclocked CPUs. LC definitely cools better under load and looks better, but it's your time and money.

My Cores even when i play C&C 3 Kanes Wrath at full settings rarely go above 55c. WoW is the same, as is Warhammer Online. I have the LC, And soon pics... (of the system)

It is important to know what your temps are when playing games, but for comparison reasons, it it better to use a program such as Linx to stress the cores, and measure load temps. I bet your temps will go up at least 20C with Linx, over playing games.

try downloading the newest Realtemp, see if that changes anything, some of the old versions gave "off" readings with the i7.
What are you using to put a load on the CPU?
What is you room temp?
Yes, the temps seems really high.

Linx, but playing Crysis gives about the same temps.
Room temp is 80 but was a lil higher cause no ac was on then and it still reads at same temps if I open linx now with RealTemp 3.30.

Yes it is a new system, but I made no changes even they were worried about it being stable so they upgraded to the zalman perfomance fans trying to get better airflow.

Well, as long as it is stable, and under warranty, should be OK.  I personally like load temps under 70, under 60 is ideal. But that is just some hill billys opinion. lol not Digital Storms.

It runs very stable but I don't like high temps either so if you have any suggestions for better LC I might send it back for a upgrade eventually.

so your max temps are 92 and 89c range when playing crysis ?

your room temp will make a big difference no matter what your cooling is.

I'll take a max of 80c if I have to but 75c or 70 is my personal max I like to have, but my room temp is not near 80c.

It seems to have fixed it's self when leaving it off for a few days and temps don't leave the 60c area playing Crysis anymore.

80c is 176 fahrenheit... i would hope your room isn't that hot!
