Was just wondering if it is viable to use the big Noctua fans (forgot model name) overclocking an intel i7 930 cpu to 4 ghz, or do I have to use (the unfortunately costly) liquid cooling DS suggests?

Lilim says that she thinks a Noctua will achieve that just fine.

Cool, good to know I dont have to empty my pockets for a decent rig.

Also, are the Noctuas particularly noisy?

Oh heck no. Gotta hand it to Noctua, their fans might be ugly but they are astoundingly quiet.

in the case it doesnt matter, look at the pictures in the bottom of my build log(link in signature)

with the cathode lights, youd never know the color of the fans, and they reflect light way better than black fans, AND how much time do you really spend looking in your case after the first week lol

My 930 is OC'd to 3.8ghz. With my 120mm Noctua, temps max out in low 60's under the heaviest gaming (low to mid 70's under Prime95). The cooler is all but silent.
