Non SLI Build?

My current resolution is 1680x1050 but I like to keep my options open :-)

After doing some reading, I've latched onto i7 2600K, GTX570 and Inter 120GB SSD as the core of my system.
The rest I'm not sure, so went by DST4ME's recommendations on the forum.

This build I have is at upper extreme with potential to do SLI, but pricey. As I'm not going to do upgrade GPU for another 2 years or so, can I drop SLI? In which case what can I change to bring the price down?

At your res SLI is not required for high/max settings for anything except maybe the most extreme games out there. daveyd is correct, for non-SLI you can drop down to a smaller PSU but the 750HX is a better PSU then the 800W. It's more efficient and has a longer warrant.

You're build almost mirrors my own that I just ordered yesterday. I could not afford the SSD or the Stage 2 OC though but other then that it's the same. One thing I almost forgot is you can get a free game based on your hardware, either Arkham City or Battlefield 3. I never thought to check that section but I called their sales line to have a rep look over my build and he pointed out that I forgot to select a game or t-shirt, both of which are free.

I see you choose the green internal lighting. If you like that you may want to check out the case options. They offer a special Nvidia edition 942 HAF X case, it's Nvidia green and black with green LED fan instead of red and a green tinted side panel. Just select Edit for your case and you'll see it on the list, it's only $44 more. If I could make a suggestion, that Nvidia case with the UV Lighting (purple basically) would look really cool. Green and Purple lighting, very Joker looking.

Your build looks great, but if you don't want sli you can go with the 750w hx.

I changed the case to nvidia haf x cause it has green led 200mm fans, if you go with DS's upgrade fan you get smaller 120mm fans that are much louder, the oem 200mm fans have great flow with pretty much no noise IMHO.

stage 2 oc is where you want to be with the p67/x79 platform, cause they can do it easy, and higher oc = more speed, its the brain of your pc, so that means the pc will do everything faster, in some games it may not matter much but the whole pc's speed is dependent on your cpu speed.

Ask for vcore lower then 1.4 for your oc.

so its your own config for a system that can do dual sli anything, or this config that is for single gpu:

as mentioned if your monitor res is gonna be higher you gonna want to be able to sli.
