can you have a AMD chipset(890fx) and put nividia cards in sli on there with out problems? or does it have to be a nividia chipset?
 i wonder becaseu i know you can have one card with out problems but sli and crossfire are different.
 
also, if you take a 9800gx2 and a 9800gt can sli them, do you get tri sli, could that even work?

From what I understand, officially the answer is no, no sli on amd platform, but I could be wrong.

also the 9800gx2 (I have a couple) are in internal cf, so if you were to add in a 9800gt, and it worked, you would be in tri sli.

there is SLI AMD motherboards, if you want to go that route.
why waste money on a 9800g2? for around 100$ you can have a new card that can handle games better, and have Dx11 doubt  a 9800g2 is worth $80.

is there a 890fx sli mobo tho justin?

I'm thinking he has a 9800x2 , ohterwise like you said, it would be a waste of money to get one of those now, even for folding.

well, its a friends card, and i know the 9800gx2 sucks, but my computer would most likly- and im being 100% serious here- would blow up with a DX11 card.
 
and hell, he helped me out with a bunch of crap for free, and i sold a 7650gs for 40 bucks. thats like a 100000000000000% proffit there
