Welcome to Digital Storm and thank you for your interest! I'm going to move your thread to the "Configuration Discussion" area as that would be the best place to get config advice.

1. If you are looking for best bang for your buck assassin is not the way to go.

2. What is the native resolution of the monitor you gonna be gaming at?

3. if thats what your friends picked for you, then they know less then you do, lol give them a slap each from me for wasting your money like that

ok never mind question 2 I see the 27" monitor in the config, another bad idea.

lets do this, why don't you tell me the budget for everything included.

yeah, i'd rather start from scratch but with what base now...

Basically all i need is a PC i can use that has good-best performance, since my old PC i was nagged at so much for it being so crappy.

Again, i have an unreasonable amount of cash right now, was specifically saving up for a new high tech computer, 8 Grand.

probably gonna go for gotta say a samsung 21.5 in. Or an Acer 21.5-23 IN.

Thinking more on a Level 2 Hailstorm

Ok well I don't need 8 grand to give you a serious beast, lets have a little chat.

when you got a drag race, you don't take a formula one car there and when you go to a f1 race you don't take a dragster.

why? cause a f1 race is best done with f1 car and drag racing is best done with dragster.

so building your pc is just like that, first we need to know what we are building it for, gaming, power use, home theater, etc.

ok so yours is for gaming, but now we need to find out what kinda race/track, in other words, what kinds of games, at what res and what kind of gaming(2d or 3d).

once we figure if its 2d or 3d and what type of games, then we can narrow it down to the resolution of the monitor, once I have all those 3, now I know what kinda of race I'm going to and what kinda of track, which means now I know what car (pc) to bring.

1. so you said fps, so like also games like bf3?

2. are you looking to game 2d or 3d?

answer those 2 for me then I will know which direction in monitors to go, then I will give you info on monitors and help you with model/size.

Not really a BF person, but yeah, FPS and RPGs.

2. If you mean 3D as in i want the stuff to pop out at me, then no, just regular 2D is fine.

Very good, now lets narrow down monitor:

Most important thing about a monitor is its panel, right now there are 2 major ones, TN and IPS, IPS has superior picture quality/clarity.

1. response time is a bs number, its there to fool you and does not represent the true response time of the monitor, there is no real way of truly finding what response time is, the closest to it is white to white but you don't see that, you see grey to grey or black to black cause they give small numbers to fool users but they don't mean anything, there are different methods to get these numbers also, and each will give a different number as results, therefore you can even compare one to the other, cause we don't know what method was used for which, and even if we did, still GTG or BTB don't mean anything.

2. contrast ratio is also bs number.

at your budget you can get a nice 30" IPS panel like this one:

Dell UltraSharp U3011 30"

however you can find that monitor for around $1100, right now mikec posted a topic about getting the u30 for $1250 you can see that thread here, but again if you look around for coupons you maybe able to get it for around $1100.

it has a res of 2560 x 1600 and its an amazing monitor.

so what do you think of the u30?

It looks fine for gaming and multitasking around, seems good, i always felt a little...enclosed with my old one.. Not too enclosed, but always felt it couldve been wider.

Ask DS specifically for this fan to be added to the top, so you endup with 4 x 200mm fans:

haf 200mm non led fan

Ask for vcore lower then 1.4 for your oc.

now your own config had few problems, the case I mentioned, ram for gaming you only need 8GB, 32GB is you flushing money down the toilet cause you are not gonna see any gains from 32GB of ram, only powerusers running virtual servers would need that much ram, I don 't understand what you have for hdd 1 and 3, it just says 250GB, we can add the bd player if you like, 2 x 590 (quad sli) gets beat by tri sli 570/580, 590/6990 are not good cards, for gaming wireless will have lag but if you want we can add that to my config also, LC on cpu is not needed, the noctua will have great load temps, but if you like we can add teh LC on cpu, same with sound card, oc stage 3 will have a very high vcore which means very early cpu death, you don't want/need the gpus to be oced, you won't notice the gain but your gpus are under more stress for no reason, you have no use for win7 ultimate, you should go with the win7 cd option, you dont need the SurgeArrest, the psu has its own protection, surge protectors can cause more problems sometimes, get your gaming headset/keyboard/mouse from newegg or something it will cost less even the ms office.

keep in mind the 3 year warranty here is 3 year labor 1 year parts.

You are welcome but which would you like to add back in the system?

wireless card

sound card

or both added, I just need to make sure that if you want to add all of these and have tri sli in the future the mobo can handle it. (aka enough pci lanes)
