Can someone help me out here? I got the Nova 15 for my son a while ago and he says that he got a blue screen of death. I have the recovery USB that came with the laptop but I have no idea how to use it. Help an old man out?

Is the BSOD random or the laptop is unusable?
First, laptops are a pain to work on. Second, the recovery USB will only work if the BSOD is software, like a corrupt file, virus, etc. To use the USB, turn off pc, plug in usb and turn back on. Sometimes it will boot right to the usb if it was setup to see it. Or, hit F12 repeatedly on boot to get to the options menu to select recover. Then follow directions. If it’s hardware issue, like a bad hard drive, you’ll need to replace the drive before reloading system. Same for bad ram, etc. This is tough to fix over the web. You might be better off taking it local, like Geek Squad, if it’s more than a system restore. Good luck. |
