Hello DS,
Once again I seek your professional assistance. Yesterday randomly while playing WoW my computer locked up and I would get a bunch of red pixels all over both of my monitors. Then my computer would reboot itself. It did this a few times and I was in the middle of a raid and I happened to get enough time to google the error and I remember reading something about driver issues with my card. Well it happened again today except this time when the computer rebooted I just got a black screen. The computer turns on, all the hardware turns on, but I just get a black screen. I'm not sure where to go from here considering I'm not getting any video to my monitor to try and trouble shoot the issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Bill

8800gtx? sounds like its probably dead

if you have another video card, you could try that and see if it works, thats pretty much the most effective way

I don't have another video card. You think it's probably dead? Where do I go from here?

try the other card, if that one works, the 8800 is dead, probably from old age

When you said you saw a bunch of red pixels, that is telling me that your card was on it's last leg. If the system does not boot now, then your video card appears to have gone bad. The only want to confirm if it is the card is to borrow a card to test.

If you are still under warranty for hardware service, get in touch with us and we'll help get you back up and running.

Hey guys,
I went out and bought a new video card today. Plugged it in and now I have video. So I'm assuming my 8800 is toast. :( Oh well it lasted about 4 years.

yea, thats a good amount of life for a video card if you play a decent amount of games
