So as of right now I have an Nvidia 9600GT zotac edition. I'm looking to upgrade and SLI my 9600GT with another 9600GT. I have a couple of questions.
1. How do I know how many Mhz the core is? All I know is the 512mb memory. There are a bunch of different 9600GTs, so how do I know how to get the right one? 2. Can I purchase a EVGA edition even though I have a Zotac? 3. Later on down the road will I be able to 3-way SLI the 9600gt? My 3-way SLI bridge is to ports wide, whereas the 9600gt is only 1. Here's the card I'm planning to purchase in the near future, does anyone know if it will work with my current card? http://www.evga.com/articles/394.asp Thanks guys! I'm sure justin.kerr or DST4ME can suggest a card you could pick up now that would replace your current card that will out perform it and it in SLI. I look forward to hearing their suggestions.

I don't think 9600 GTs are 3-way SLi compatible, as they only have 1 port, as you said. I have dual 9600 GTs right now, but I have to warn you about a strange glitch that occurs with this graphics card only. Once you get it, make sure you immediately update to the most recent driver. The older drivers experience a glitch with the 9600 GT specifically where the driver freezes and also locks up your entire system, with whatever audio looping and the screen black (you don't lose signal, the output just turns black). I'm finally doing perfectly fine now, however, after I updated to this month's driver, which has apparently finally fixed the issue!!!
![]() If you want to check your clock, download nVidia System Tools. Do NOT go for nTune, its compatibility is not guaranteed. After installing nVidia System Tools, go to the nVidia Control Panel and hunt around the tree pane for overclocking settings. There you should be able to see your clock speed. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.05.html (Also, system tools comes with a handy system monitor. You don't even need to have ESA enabled to use it!) Edited by ablahblah - 14 Mar 2010 at 10:40pm |

Wow. I was just thinking about how bad my ATI 5870 drivers are but I guess this a problem all around, huh? Maybe the industry needs to slow down on the hardware and get the software right.
