So could my old i7 990x Extreme handle that Titan Xp Jedi?   

Of course me being me if I could I would buy the Galactic order and Jedi order Titans for a new rig.

I believe the 990x will do fine with it. I haven't tinkered with the 990x for awhile now, but based on some older numbers, I really don't think the 990x is going to constrain (at least noticeably) the Star Wars GPUs. Strong

Ok I just ordered one you guys. Had already decided to upgrade my video card so why not.

Definitely will probably be asking for help here to install this.

Of course why spend that much money you may ask? Because I'm a total Star Wars geek that's why. Fan girl.

Now off to explain my insanity to dear hubby. I'm sure he will say "not more computer stuff"

This is when the mother of all disasters occurred. When removing the GPU I also ripped out the plastic PCI-E slot!


So going to put it in the other 2.0 x16 slot. Mama mia

Here are some pics of it. Looks good. The screen on the monitor has never looked so crisp.    I'm happy. Thinking it will be time soon to get new parts.

When I took the 680 out I forgot to lift the clip. And there ya go. According to the Sabertooth x58 specs it should be fine. I hope.

Damn that sucks, as long as you are in a x16 or even x8 you are good to go, your pci port that got messed up may no longer be usable tho.

Well look at this way you got a new gpu installed and now you are a gpu install pro

The one I broke is toast. The other Pcie is a 2.0x16.
Well for a total twit I guess I'm learning the hard way.

I've know more than a few instances where the ole' clip has a resulted in PCI slot getting ripped off the mobo.

At least you had a backup slot. It paid dividends in the end. Awesome

Of course maybe you forgot the clip on purpose to make an argument for the next DS system? Big%20Smile
