Does anyone have a problem when running games with this error? The error goes to blue screen and pretty much says nvlddmkm error and restarts my PC. Any help would be appreciated. I can't even find the old Nvidia drivers to try and old install

Ok, let me follow-up with this. This has been a known issue for quite some time now with graphics cards. I would recommend you Google it and read up on it. Lots of info about it. That error code, however, points to your GPU driver. First, make sure you have the latest driver for your GPU and you may want to disable SLI, as this has been known to fix it. It was once said that only Nvidia cards were the cause of it and then it was Nvidia and Vista was the issue, but it's happened wth ATI also and it's happened in WinXP. So, there are some variables that float with this.
Read up! |

I gotcha. What GPU do you have? What driver version do you have?

GTX 275. The drivers are 182.50. Turned off SLI and crashed out again. This is really an annoying bug

Go here and see if you can find a previous driver that may work for you...

I know, it is annoying. It happened to me quite sometime back and I'm trying to remember how I fixed it exactly. You know, I think this was the thing that actually brought me here to Digital Storm. I had a gaming rig that was 5+ years old and your issue was happening to me more and more. My rig finally froze and locked one evening and I just threw my hands up at that point. Went searching for a custom boutique and, well, the rest is history. I had a rig built here and am very satisfied.
Did you have this rig you have now built here? |

Yes this pc is from DS. They're great guys but had some bad luck but it's hardware fault not them. psu was gone got pc back and 4 days later card went. never had an error like this from nvidia. some ati users are having the same issue.

Would you take a chance on those beta drivers?

I know I posted on this in the past here. Let me see if I can recall my posts and look at the chat about it to see if there was a solution given.

No problem. However, I lied. This is not why I came to DS for a new computer. I can't freaking remember what happened now. Anyway, read through this thread about my same issue, you may find some answers in it. It may very well be that you'll need to play with your RAM a bit and see if that helps.
http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=5326&KW=&PID=58865#58865 EDIT: I did flash my BIOS awhile back from P30, to P33. That, along with tweaking my RAM, stopped this error. Check to see if your MOBO has a BIOS update, too. I know the P33 update for mine said it improved compatibility with the RAM communications on the board. Edited by EdH63 - 03 May 2009 at 12:22am |

You can always try Beta drivers, just remember that they're not stable yet. If they don't work you can always roll back. |

Before flashing your BIOS, I would tweak the RAM timings. You first would want to see if there is actually an update for the BIOS, and if so, read if it addresses your RAM communications with the board.

XFX 780i is the motherboard I am using. I just got my rig back last week so I am sure the updated the motherboard to the most current bios.
I did a clean reinstall of windows and reinstalled my drivers so hopefully that worked. I also reset my ram put everything back to factory settings no OC's at all. The motherboard is also reset to it's default settings.
Hopefully this should work. If that doesn't work may have to send back and have them take a look.

Well I was able to game for a few hours and nothing happened. That's the longest I've been able to game for a few days.
All my overclocks are gone. Motherboard is back to factory settings SLI and Phys is off. So right now I don't have the super DS rig *no fault of their own*. I hope Nvidia fixes this problem because it is a pain. It all started for me with the 182.50 driver. I will set everything back to normal *SLI* once a new driver comes out to see what happens. Thanks for the help. |

Glad to hear it. Since my episode I have taken my RAM back to 1600MHz from 800MHz. I did lose my OC also flashing my bios (I was at 3.15), but I haven't seen any adverse performance issues losing my OC. My rig also runs cooler without the OC. I haven't had a error since this and the rig runs great.
Mine started around 3 or 4 drivers ago, can't remember, but I believe it was bound to happen at sometime. Glad to hear your rig is running well. Edited by EdH63 - 03 May 2009 at 11:25pm |

Ok so far I haven't gotten the error anymore so not sure what the cause is. Today I try to enable SLI *fingers crossed* to play Conan tonight.
If I get the error I shut down SLI and will wait for the new nvidia drivers to try again.

I'll chime in here...better late than never. I to had this error as ED63 will attest as we swapped horror stories when we were both going thru this ordeal. I tried everything under the sun, read all the fixes that ended up not being fixes, and at the end of the day, what did it for me was to to remove the 4 sticks of 1 gb and replaced it with 2x2 and set the timings to default. Ever since then not one nvlddmkm error. I was able to keep my OC as well.I spoke with corsair and they indicated that the 780i mb did not play nice with 4 sticks UNLESS it was a quad set (all matched).

Not sure if you got it fixed or not, but I had the same issue for about 1 1/2 months so I figure I'd tell you what worked for me.
My solution.... I had my 260's (2) stable at 705Mhz for a few months, then the error came along yadda yadda annoying. I then dropped my clock down to 600Mhz, and the problem occured much left often but still popped back once in a while at the most random moments. So then I updated to the latest beta drivers and dropped the clock to the stock speed of 576Mhz. I haven't encountered the error ever since. |
