A 9700f is locked to prevent overclocking, that's why it's cheaper than a 9700k. But that's not a very large drawback for the chip. It still has 8 cores that turbo up to 4.7 Ghz, and that is power and speed we would have "killed for" at the price just a bit more than a year ago. if you are primarily a gamer, that CPU -as is- will last you at least 5 years before you even have to think about replacing it.
