depends entirely on the chip you were given, they are all different
likely you will start to max around 4.2ish
but 4 is already overkill for any current game and most applications, what makes you want to overclock more?

haha yea i dont have much else to do from 8-5 my job is stupid easy
that plus my work filter wont let me get on ANY site but this and wikipedia lol
so until i finally get a better job, this is my spot
i can understand the excitement, in 3 days i get to rebuild my system.. ive already used it for a month and im still really excited to get it back together
but as far as practicality, youre already over the limit, you can tweak the overclock if you want, but it wont improve your general pc use or gaming. youre already above "practical", just enjoy it!

Ok, thanks again and I will, definitely!!! I'll get all those thoughts of OC my new processor out of my stupid head!! I can't wait to play StarCraft 2 on this puppy or Diablo 3 when that comes out (one day in the distant future). I just looked at gameplay footage of Diablo 3,all I can say is SICK!!!!

benchmark overclocking is a really exciting hobby, but you have to know going in to it that youre risking a pretty hefty amount for personal satisfaction and bragging rights.
i dont want to discourage you from trying it out, i just want you to understand that after 3.8ish you will no longer be changing anything except your benchmark scores and temperatures. if youre still interested, just spend some time reading on it and join the ranks, you can put your 920 / triple channel mem/ noctua 14 mem against my silly little 875k / dual chan / noctua 12 for a few competitions

star craft II can see nice gains with high CPU speeds.. is uses only 2 threads for the most part, will use 4 more threads, but only lightly. at 4.5Ghz I see those 2 main threads at 90%-100% while gaming, so gains could be had by going higher. might have to put in on my 5Ghz rig to see.

hahaha, right but being able to use it vs it actually being effective...
i believe the cpu use is from the physics in the game i havent really looked into it but ive gotten the impression that small stuff like blow up pieces rolling down ramps is cpu dependant, i guess the same concept as PPU in 3d vantage?
i dont know thats a little beyond me
