Topic: ODE 1 questions Posted: 25 Jan 2012 at 12:21pm |
I am thinking of ordering the ODE 1 but i have 2 questions.
1. What will the warranty be 3 years or 5 ? with the promo im not sure.
2. Can i be sure the vcore is less than 1.4 since it is allready has an OC on it, I know from forums that it needs to be less than 1.4 for the cpu to last. I want this computer to last at least 6 years.
I plan on using 1920 x 1080 on my 50" plasma tv.
I will use it primarily for AcesHigh which is a multiplayer WW2 combat flight simulator game with a big update coming in the graphics.
Thanks in advance,
CJ

1. I just added an ODE 1 to my cart and it shows the warranty upgrade promotion. So it would make your warranty 4 years, not 5 years, as the standard warranty is only 3 years.
2. Yes, only Stage 2 OC needs to be concerned about a high VCore. The ODE 1 is only a Stage 1 OC. 3. TVs are 99% of the time a very bad idea. They often lack the proper connection necessary and the graphic quality will not always look the best. A TV that large is meant to be viewed for a fairly significant distance away and that's not how most gamers player in relation to their monitor. 4. I've never played that game but from what I can see the ODE 1 should more then handle it. Edited by jmaster299 - 25 Jan 2012 at 1:10pm |

2. there is no way to be sure your vcore is lower then 1.4, tho as mentioned by jm299 for stage 1 oc the vcore should be lower then 1.4 but there is no guarantee that it will be, and with ode builds you can't make requests like that.
Also if your tv is connected via hdmi and its not 1.4 then you are stuck with 30fps max which is not what you want. |

Yeah I guess I should have rephrased my statement. There is no reason why a Stage 1 OC should need a VCore higher then 1.4v so it's not something the OP likely needs to worry about.

I'm just confused as to why the techs would set it that high for a Stage 1 OC. I know the 2600k shouldn't need that much to be stable.

It does not but I recall seeing one, not sure lately, since we recommend everybody go with stage 2 anyways.
