Hi Folks!

Just wondering if the build below would be able to run all the new games on ultra settings. I was contemplating on getting gtx 770 SLI cards, but I just want the reliability of 1 card, therefore I went with the gtx 780ti. I've heard rumors about a gtx 780 ti 6GB version, but I'm not sure if that is true. Is this worth building or should I wait for a new card to come out within the same price range? I was also debating on whether or not I should go Intel Core i7 4770K. Is it worth the extra money or should I just downgrade to i5?

Hoping this system gets me well into the future of gaming **fingers crossed**

Hi hc1980.....  Welcome to the forums.    Nice rig you put together.  Strong

The 6gb vram gtx 780ti is mainly useful if you wanted to go into 4K or 2560x1440 screen resolutions.  For your 1920x1080 screen, the 780ti , 3 Gig card is all you need.  I agree with a single 780ti over sli 770.  A lot less potential issues and it performs better in some games on higher resolution  and close in most other games.

The i5 cpu is all gaming needs right now.   The i7 does have hyper threading, meaning twice the threads over the i5 for multi-tasking, etc.   In the future I'm sure that will be more readily used so up to you.  If you stay with the i7-4770k then waiting until the end of the month for the 4970k for another $9 might be the way to go if you can.   The newer cpu's aren't that much faster, but the 4970k, if it is true, gives you the 4.4ghz Turbo clock across all 4 cores.  Turbo on most chips is only on a single core so this could be a game changer for some.  That means the 4970k at stock will be as fast as the 4770k with the added stage 1 overclock.   Plus it does have a better thermal package for less heat, hopefully.

Hope this helps and good luck. Big%20Smile

Edit,, change the Seagate HDD to the Western Digital Black Caviar for another $19.  A better drive with longer warranty.

Thanks for the advise! I can probably wait for the new CPU, assuming you meant the 4790.

Also, do you think 16GB RAM is unnecessary?

Yep, the 4790k.    Right now the 16gb ram is more than gaming needs.  This time last year when going from 8gb to 16gb was only $40 something bucks, it was a much easier decision.    Like, why not?  But now its over $100 and since it is easy to add, I'd go for the 8gb if the budget is a bit stretched.

Thanks! I'm going to switch to 8gb and change the PSU to 850W Corsair RM850 (Optimized for Silence) since I want the system to be a bit more quiet and I might add another card in the future if I'm desperate for more gaming power.
