ODE V2 Lvl 4 vs Dreadnaught Lvl 2?

Hi folks, I just wanted to get some opinions while I try and make a decision.  I'm definitely going with a DS rig.  The 2 models I posted above are similar in price, but I would say the ODE has a few better components.  At the same time though, the Dreadnaught's upgradability score is higher.

Right now, I want the rig to blaze thru any game on the market now and for the next couple years.  This comp will also be used for school work, maybe some video editing (nothing professional).

My concern is that I want to make sure that in a few years, if the video card, ram, or any other component needs upgrading, I will easily be able to do it.  In other words, how long do I have before the motherboard and processor start becoming obselete?  If I sound like a computer noob.... I kinda am when it comes to what todays hardware can do.

Thoughts on the better choice for about $2k?

Over this build or the Deadnought lvl 2 the ODE 4 gives you the SSD and bu-ray player for about the same price. and about the same perfromance.

This build for another $100 gives you a better case, the HafX which is the best.  The ODE's 600T case is very good, just not as good.

The mobo in this build allows sli, 2xgpu down the road if you wanted. The ODE 's don't allow sli.  If you never intend to sli then it doesn't matter.

This build also gives a better psu, the 750HX with 7 year warranty, but the 800W has DS extended 5 year warranty..

The gtx670 is faster than the gtx580 and produces alot less heat and needs less juice to run.  It would be comparable to the 7970 in the ODE 4 in gaming.

The D14 cooler is tops in reliablilty, but the H100 in the ODE 4 is also very good.

Basically, the ODE will give you similar gaming, a SSD and Blu-ray player but  this build gives you some better parts and the ability to go sli.

If you don't care about sli then the ODE 4 is tough to beat.  Both can have the video cards, ram, etc easily replaced.  Most figure a video card needs replacing every 2-3 years to stay on top and a new pc every 4-5 years.

Tough call.  DS has made the ODE 4 a best bang for the buck system.

Hope this helps and good luck.Big%20SmileBig%20Smile

Indeed they have.. that's the only bad part about the ODE line, before DS released them it was much easier to make build suggestions in situations like this LOL

And Redstyx, bprat22 has provided some good information on how to proceed!

Thanks for the build idea. Being as new as I am though, I have a couple follow up questions if I may.

SLI means using 2 video cards right? It occurred to me that I may want to run 2 monitors in the future. 1 for a movie, 1 for whatever else Im doing. Does that require 2 video cards? Or do I just need to make sure if I'm using 1 video card it can connect 2 monitors?

I was also wondering if there is a reason the 750HX PSU was better than the 800wattDX... other than the warranty?

I'm aware that I may end up spending more than 2,000. That was just a figure to go by. I'm trying to keep the wife happy while meeting my wants. The Blu-Ray, wanting 2 monitors (eventually), and assurance that it will last years is all her idea.

Thank again for the help and any further input you may have!!
