Topic: ODE1 promblemsPosted: 19 Nov 2012 at 12:15pm |

I purchased an ODE level 1 desktop computer on 1/4/12 and have been loving it! However, I've run into a major problem...
About a week ago the PC froze up while I was out of the room. So I turned it off, and started it back up. Well I got the startup screen just fine(American Megatrends screen)but then Windows wouldn't start and it left me with a blank screen in which I could do nothing with. Upon restarting, I was given an error message that Windows could not start properly, so I tried their repair, which didn't work, and even tried restoring a previous session, which didn't work either. Next I came to these forum and used the troubleshoot guides to re-seat everything inside my PC, which solved nothing, and decided to reinstall Windows altogether. So I went into the bios, changed boot order so I could boot from the Windows7 CD, and reinstalled Windows. This worked, it allowed me to log into Windows now. I popped in my motherboard CD(ASUS P8Z68-vLE) and installed all the drivers, reinstalled my video card drivers through the internet(Nvidia GeForce GTX 570), and did about 130 Windows updates. So my ODE works now... but it's just not the same, in several different ways. 1. Everything is slower than it was before, from startup to running games(for example, I used to run Diablo3 on max settings with constant 120+ FPS and no auto-sync. Now running it like that produces terrible framerate loss and screen tearing. But it will work fine with auto-sync on and runs about 60 FPS without much of an issue). 2. I'm assuming I've lost my Overclock, which could contribute to the slower feeling of everything. I went into AI Suite II(which I downloaded off the ASUS CD) and accessed the overclock option inside(auto tuning-TurboV EVO was what it was called)(for the motherboard??---this is where I get a little confused, I thought the OC was on the processor...I could use some clarification on the matter). I did, however, notice a slight increase in speed/noise from the PC after setting it on the 'Extreme' setting.. 3.After doing the overclock, I've noticed a popup warning message coming from the AI Suite II: and exclamation mark inside of a triangle, with "Warning V-core (either 1.555v or 1.960)" written beside it. This worries me. I have no clue what it means. 4. When booting up the PC, I press the power button, the computer starts up, then shuts down after 3-5 seconds, then starts back up on it's own just like normal. I'm not sure why this is happening, my only guess is that I need to change my boot order back to what it was...but I'm unsure how to do so because of all the tech speak/names etc in the BIOS. If that;s not the case, I'm nervous this could indicate damage to my motherboard...I hope I am wrong about that. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on what I can do, please please help. I'd rather not have to ship this thing halfway across the US if I don't have to, but I will if I can verify what the actual problem is. I am by no means tech savvy when it comes to motherboards/graphics cards/BIOS problems, and I've done everything I feel comfortable doing based on the support section of these forums, so any human input would be much appreciated. MY next step is to contact DS directly by phone, but any help or clarification from you forum go-ers would help immensely. Thanks in advance! |

Hi Kslo4 Your vcore is way to high. Should be 1.4 or less. Call DS and they will send you your original overclock settings. Thats the best way to go. A high vcore can shorten cpu life which is voltage to the cpu cores.
The double boot in concern 4 is normal and a product of overclocking. Some get it and some don't. I get it every few days and another gets it every boot. Overclocking is stored in Bios on the mobo. I'm wondering if the original problem was the rig going into Sleep mode. It can really mess up some systems. Good luck. Edited by bprat22 - 19 Nov 2012 at 12:34pm |

I'll post a reply in your other tread.
I'm locking this topic as there is one in the correct "Technical Assistance" section here: http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=19169 |
