You might want to reconsider going SLI. What resolutions will you be playing at? If you are not going above 1600x1200 on max settings, you do not need SLI. And if you do decide to go the SLI route, at least go with a GTX because 320MB will do very little good at the high resolutions.
The rest looks good. Remember that 32 bit drivers do not work on 64 bit systems. So make sure that all your device drivers are 64 bit. |

Instead of the 2x8800GTS 320Mb go with a single 8800GTX 768. You'll get as good performace as with the paired 8800GTS's but still be able to add a second 8800GTX in the future when the prices come down.
In order to upgrade the 8800GTS's you would have to replace both cards.
And it's $3 cheaper than the paired 8800GTS's
As for the Vista Home Premium 64 Bit, unless you are going with 4 GB of Ram there is not a major reason for going with 64 Bit. Go with the 32 Bit version. Edited by gdhart - 19 Oct 2007 at 11:53pm |

I agree with the above suggestions, and I would add that you could pass on the cathode lights and cabling to upgrade some other area. Any reason your not looking at a quad?
Take your time, do some research and read not only here but other sites. You can reconfigure your build over and over......hehehe....I've been doing it for 2 months.

with your budget, this is what I would go with:
Price: $2552 Keep in mind, if you save the config, later you will get an email with a 5% discount to help either with tax/shipping or (like I did) upgrade a few things... like getting the better mobo/1066 ram... Thank you, SkyR, gdhart,Minion and ed1371....
I listened to you all and made the following changes. I'm assuming that the pros here at digital storm can take care of over clocking my setup. Any thoughts on the Quad Q6600 ??? you could try this one. I noticed you went with a raptor 300GB for your only drive, while if you did 2 ragulars in a raid 0, you could add something more to your others. unless you wanted the raptors in raid 0.
Copy of Specifications:
Case: Digital Storm Twister EXTREME (Black Anodized Aluminum Finish) Power Supply: 850W Thermaltake (8800 GTX SLI Compatible) (Silent Toughpower Edition) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (1066MHz FSB) (8MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 680i Core 2 Quad (By: eVGA) (nForce 680i SLI) (A1 Revision) Memory: 2GB DDR2 Corsair at 800MHz XMS2 (Dual Channel) (Extreme-Performance) Floppy / Media: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 320GB (Western Digital / Seagate) (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive 2: 320GB (Western Digital / Seagate) (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Raid Option: Setup my two hard drives in a Raid 0 Stripe (Read and Write Performance Boost) Optical Drive 1: DVD-ROM/CD-ROM (DVD Reader 16x / CD Reader 40x) Optical Drive 2: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Network Card: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Modem: - No Thanks Video Card: nVidia GeForce 8800GTX 768MB (By: eVGA / Asus) (PCI-Express) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS (Up to 7.1 Channel) (Includes I/O Unit) Physics Card: - No Thanks Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 3 (Silent Artic Cooling (TwisterBoost Overclocked) Case Lighting: - No Thanks Round Cables: - No Thanks User Manual: Personalized Platinum Digital Storm Binder (Includes Paperwork/Benchmarks/CDs/Manuals) Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty Support: Lifetime Toll-Free Platinum Care Technical Support $2759.00 if you wanted to add a tiny bit more, you could. I think this one is alittle cheaper, but not as fast as a 300GB raptor in raid 0. just alittle less. you could upgrade the ram a little more. I would suggest to go with a higher PSU. If you are going to get another card, I would think a 850W Power supply would be needed, I could be wrong though.
