My son is old enough to have his own computer so I decided that I would give him my current DSO system and order myself a new one. So this is what I ordered.

Judging by your build, I think its clear to all of us that you are doing this to help your son (sure you are ;) )

OK joking aside, sounds great, only thing I would change is go with liquid cooling, get a smaller raptor, but then get a second HDD.

is the sound card that important to you? if not go with an integrated one.

Other then that, what a nice PC man

cmon mate, your supposed to say boy what a great dad.... hey had the sell the wife on it also Wink anyway I have thought about thoses changes you suggested would love to have liquid cooling maybe in the future, not quite in the budget right now.

The only reason I recommended liquid cooling was because you can get higher and more stable OC with liquid cooling then you can with the fan.

But if thats not important right now then its not important

Don't degrade the raptor! If its for his son and by the talk it says hes "old" enough. 300GB would be enough. Maybe put another SMALL HD in there for music/videos/etc... and ya go with liquid cooling since it gives MORE stability to the CPU OC and it looks cool!
