I basically priced my system out at Falcon.I paid $1952 here and they want $3357 there. Another good reason to buy from DSO,

lol.... I did the very same thing when I first was looking for a rocking machine. Started with Alien (very low end components compared to what DSO offers for choices) and Falcon and many other cites. DSO won hands down in offerings and price. |

Yeah I actually owned a Dell XPS before this (not a bad system actually) but it is priced at a premium compared to DSO - you pay more for the name. Their customer service blows too - and fortunately I rarely had to use it. I am pretty sure I will be staying loyal to DSO from here on out. I will probably buy a new system in 2-3 years

I did that and I also did the "If I had to build it myself what would it cost" Pricing at Newegg and Zipzoom. DSO won hands down; for the amt of money to buy all the parts; it was actually a little less than DSO; but Im sure I didnt include the small things, extra fans, rounded cables, etc. Overall my Decision was based on their great CS that I received from the minute I saved my Configuration. The other thing was the 3yr full warranty on parts and servicing; damn you cant beat that with a stick; trying getting that anywhere else. I figured DS was actually the best way to go all around; if a component failed on me in lets say 13months; I would have to pay to replace it; if I had any bad components I would have to RMA; overall the only way to go for me was DSO. They get all the headaches, I get all the benefits. And now 3 months into having my Rig I feel even more strongly than I did when I first bought it; its a decision I will be happy with for a very long time.

I did the same things as the rest of you. Looked at Blackbird (love the case) and Alienware as well as Dell and building my own (being a n00b scared me off the latter choice) and my observations meshed with yours. DS is by FAR the most bang for the buck and most others don't offer the latest components nor the wide range of choices you can get here.
And I'll echo Mysty as to who can have all the headaches. I just wanna play
Also I believe Alienware is owned by Dell so they probably share the same components.

DS by far has blown away my expectations for buying a new rig. Unless something drastically changes, they have a customer for life as far as I'm concerned. I just received my second DS system, first for gaming, this one for my business, Right on with everything, feels like someone put some love in these computers compared to buying the mass produced computers at Best Buy, ( done that too many times to my dismay) Two computers down, hmmm about 5 more to go in the next year. Lookout DS, got some more business coming your way, Keep up the good work,

I started with dell, looked at a 720 RED that ran about 2400 bucks without tax, and things, then i started to look a lot closer at the componets and noticed that for the price the componets you get were really subpar. So i started to look at the various other companies that i knew made computers like HP and gateway, and they wouldnt even come close to the performance machines i wanted, so next i tried alienware, and Falcon Northwest, while they had the gear i wanted, they were also stupidly expensive. At that point i got disheartened and starting to look back at the Dell guessing that hey..i guess this is all i can afford at the moment, and while its good, it isnt the great machine i wanted...I was close to buying it, then i dawned on me that I never googled 'custom computers' i figured what the hell ill give it a shot. A couple companies afterwards i ran into DS. What really turned me on to it at first was the price, i was like..HEY NOW! this is the stuff i wanted and its priced within a reasonable amount where building it myself didnt seem like the sole tempting option. Then I noticed the warrenty which is freaking amazing vs Dells. I mean 3 years in a computers lifetime is a LONG time. After that and being on this forums long enough i learned their service is by far the best ive seen for a computer company.

I also priced some configurations with Falcon. To be honest, I do not believe they are targeting the exact demographics of a Digtial Storm or AVA Direct.
While all of these companies are targeting folks who do not want to buy from the big name manufacturer, Falcon seems content to be the "Mercedes Benz" of boutique builders. When you go to their configurator that have one option named "bragging rights" which is their top of the line configuration. Heck, their "Bang for Your Buck" configuaration starts at $5,400!! It's no different than buying a Mercedes, you buy for the looks, you buy for the name and you willing to pay a premium for a high level of customer service. The paint job alone on the Falcon rig I was looking at was almost $1,400...but I have to admit it looked damn nice.
I have had a few cars in my lifetime from a Honda & Mitsubishi to a 5 series BMW. While I obviously paid more for my BMW, the customer service when I had to deal with the dealership was better than my experience with Honda or Mitsubshi. The question I had to ask myself when it was time to buy a new car was whether or not the difference in price between another BMW or Honda & Toyota was justified. At the end of the day I determined that it was not and wound up buying a Nissan Pathfinder. I think a similar analogy could be made with customers who elect to go with Digital Storm. I imagine that for most folks the price /(performance & customer service) ratio is more favorable with Digital Storm than Falcon. You don't pay as much as Falcon, but you receive a level of customer service that you feel or hope is comparable to that of Falcon. Edited by traylorc - 12 Apr 2008 at 5:59pm |

I purchased a Falcon NW Mach V about 6 years ago and had no problems that weren't quickly resolved. Their customer service is as good as DSO. They are quite a bit more expensive and I would say the main thing their price has to offer is fine attention to detail on software configuration and the fancy package.
This time around, I had decided to go with DSO because their customer service sounded good and they truly seemed interested in giving people the kind of quality machine that they would want for themselves. (and I liked their prices ) I was forced to purchase early and thus went with as cheap as I could go due to budget limitations. (My mobo died on my Falcon) I'm sure in time I will upgrade most of the way to where I wanted to be, but wish I could have "done it right" in the first place. Perhaps next time around I can do just that! If anyone at DSO is listening, however, I really really want a smaller pc such as a Silverstone Sugo SG03 case like Maingear offers. I almost went with them simply for the case... ![]() I'm a sucker for looks. ![]() |

I did the same thing before I purchased. I am certainly happy I went with DS and am already planning on purchasing my next system from them in 2 more years. Keep up the great pricing with top of the line parts and I will continue to send people your way. |

I did the same thing and here I am.
but I don't agree with the other members explanation of Benz and Honda. I too have had many cars in my life time, when you buy a Benz or BMW you are not buying a car, you are buying a luxury car, that is what you are paying for, luxury, the luxury and comfort a Benz offers you, Honda does not, let me see you adjust the rear seats separately in an accord, or many other things. having said that, what luxury is falcon offering me? $1400 for a paint for PC case? thats not luxury with all due respect thats wasteful. as for other components, top of the line lets say nvidia 780i is the same quality if you get it from here or falcon, there is no luxury there. I don't think just because you over charge for stuff or put a huge price tag on something it automatically has a luxury effect and creditability. It has to be justified to be put on that plato. let me tell how falcon sent me over here, I called them and asked if Skulltrail can be build with only one processor and the guy said no there is no way it will not run. I'm a dell customer and have had precision workstations and they run dual processors and from them I know you can run with only one, but I figured that the guy from falcon knew what he was talking about, however I'm the type that double checks things and gets second opinions, which brought me here, I asked the DS guy hey can Skulltrail run one processor and the guy said hold on, came back 2 minutes later and said yes. so lets recap, falcon was wrong and the way the guy talked to me made me think I owe him money. He also did not want to build me a uni system so instead he tried to sell me on dual instead of being honest and saying we don't build that way. DS did take a long time to answer my call, I will say that but once my call was answered I felt like I was back at the Benz dealer buying another one and DS was correct to say it will run with one. you tell me which is which, for me the price does not matter the quality does and a paint job does not justify lying and a $4000 difference. you can grab a Honda and give it a nice paint job and Benz logo and then try to sell it to me at a hi price as a Benz. But that does not mean that I'm gonna believe you and buy it from you at that price ;) Edited by DST4ME - 14 Apr 2008 at 2:12am |

Im pretty sure DS has it right in about every way. the only target group this company would not be that great a pic for is someone who is not the least bit computer savvy, and needs a machine for itunes, email, and word processing because thier 6 year old gateway finally kicked the bucket

My experience is like almost all the others who priced systems elsewhere before shopping DS. We all found a better return on investment not to mention the customer service reputation and this forum board (sold me).
But dont forget that extra discounted price if you completed the order. How could you say no. Thanks DS
