Considering the up and coming attempt at cloud computing, (for those of you who dont know, this is computing that is done at a remote server as opposed to your home computer, allowing for much higher performance, if you have a good internet connection) do you think that performance gaming machines are on their way out? Weigh in with opinions, but keep it clean.

there is a similar thread in the news section and no, I don't think that anything is on its way out.

Until the whole world is covered in fiber, cloud computing won't replace anything.
The only thing that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.

You also have to factor in the bully factor. Everything may become more efficient but when push comes to shove, the power computer will rule.

I am not saying that the entire need for a powerful gaming machine will go completely away, I just think that the market may become so slim that the companies will become discouraged from staying in the industry. Then again, unless everyone has perfect internet connection, the performance on a gaming computer will be better in most cases.

PC enthusiasts will never disappear.  Cloud computing seems like something that little kids will brag about when using their Dell computers because they don't know any better.

The military, government and large business will guarantee performance pc's will never go out of business. I can guarantee that after watching my company install $4 million in SOFTWARE at their recent new warehouse.
