    Posted: 31 Aug 2010 at 1:51am

I posted a few months ago and have been lurking ever since, so, with the hopes of a sale this weekend, it's time to purchase.

I will be buying a HP ZR24w or HP LP2475w.  Comments are welcome, but I will not buy a U2410 and risk the green/pink tint.

I will be buying a new keyboard, mouse, headphones, speakers & even a new surge protector (w/ batt back up most likely) as well.  Not sure on each, but Logitech & Razor and most likely.  I want at least 5.1 surround in my comp room.  I want to have some macro keys for BBC2.  Suggestions for any or all of these are more than welcome.

Not definite on the sound card, but I do want one.  Suggestions are also welcome.  I know that MOBO sound is ok, but I want better audio options for gaming as well as listening to music.

As for games, I will be playing CIV5 and BBC2.  I will look for another FPS once I get my new rig.   Suggestoins welcome here too.

Thanks for the advice and comments before and now!!  I have learned a lot in the past few months by reading these forums and chuckled a few times as well.  I should have kept notes on this or that, but I'll kick the peripherals decisions in to high gear once I pull the trigger on the comp.

My only questions are;

1. Is a memory fan kit worth it?  I assume no since the 932 has good air flow.

2. Should I go for more warranty time?

3. I won't be going for multiple cards in the future, so I won't need a bigger PSU, but is this MOBO good for upgrades to newer Nvidia cards down the road?

1. Yup mem fan kit is only worth if your going LC, redundant if your air cooling
2.Like you said, your buying it wiht the laborday sale thats hopfully going to get going this friday or weekend. It mostlikley will give you the 5 year limited
3.Not sure myself but i think? lol

Change the PSU to corsair for the few bux. Try not to get any HDD thats bigger than1tb, i hear rumors that they have a bigger failure rate

I suggest not to get creative sound cards. Go for ASUS,Azentech, or HT Omega

Other than these your lookin pretty good to go!

1. no
2. its a matter of preference, but remember, 3 years warranty is 1 year for parts, 4 is 2 and 5 is 3
3. probably, its a pretty solid mobo

do you really think youre going to use more than 1tb... i dont think a lot of people grasp how much space that is

creative cards are fine ive used one for years, they dont have the best support from what i hear but ive never needed them

warranty time is up to you, try and get it for however long you plan to go before upgrading

the 1.5tb was a mistake. I could actually use a 500g and be happy.  I dump most stuff to an external drive and burn whatever needs to kept safeguarded.  I'll go for the 1tb or even a 500g.

Any thoughts on peripherals?  I'll skulk around the hardware forum some more, but what do u guys use?  Moreover, what do u hate!?

The creative soundcards are actually pretty good. I would have went with it instead of the Auzen one, but i really wanted the customizable OPAMPS. In fact the Auzen cards use Creatives technology and processor.

@!ender_ are you sure i can buy Roccat products here in the U.S? Because i dont see the option on their "where to buy?"
