Ok, I think I've decided on my build. I'm shooting for a computer between moderate and high-end, for some gaming, some rendering, and so on. My goal is good performance and durability. I went ahead and added the stage 2 cooling and cabling.
Copy of Specifications:
Case: Digital Storm Twister PRO (Black Anodized Aluminum Finish) Power Supply: 750W Thermaltake (SLI Compatible) (Silent Toughpower Edition) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz (1066MHz FSB) (8MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 680i LT Core 2 Quad (By: eVGA) (nForce 680i SLI) Memory: 2GB DDR2 Corsair at 800MHz XMS2 (Dual Channel) (Extreme-Performance) Floppy / Media: Digital Media Card Reader (Black) Hard Drive 1: 250GB (Western Digital / Seagate) (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive 2: - No Thanks Raid Option: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Network Card: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Modem: - No Thanks Video Card: nVidia GeForce 8800GTX 768MB (By: eVGA / Asus) (PCI-Express) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer (Up to 7.1 Channel) (Recommended) Physics Card: - No Thanks Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 2 (Silent Artic Cooling Heat-sink (Copper Heatpipes) Case Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Blue Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) Round Cables: Enhanced Interior Air Flow (Optical Drive & Floppy Cables (Black Edition) User Manual: Personalized Platinum Digital Storm Binder (Includes Paperwork/Benchmarks/CDs/Manuals) Windows OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home (Includes Service Pack 2) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: Microsoft Multimedia Desktop 2.0 (Multimedia Keyboard + Optical Wheel Mouse) So, I guess I have two questions, really -
Anything weird about this configuration?
How many boxes will it ship in? (deciding where I would want to have it shipped)
Thanks

Order placed. Very disappointed in the verification process since I want it shipped to my work address (which my credit card issuer is aware of). One very common thing in this day and age is for credit card issuers to have an alternate shipping address on file.
There's no way I'm going to email a copy of my credit card, front and back (showing the CVV2 code that prevents fraud by proving I have the card in hand) and a copy of my driver's license.
The form letter email that I got wasn't very descriptive on how I go through the Manual process:
"Option 2: Manual Authorization
If you do not wish to complete and submit the authorization form, we offer a manual authorization option for our customers. In this process, we will connect a three-way conference call with you, the card holder, and your bank. Our Digital Storm representative will ask your bank to verify that you are the card holder. After verification, the order will be manually processed by our accounting department." Do I get called? Do you call me? What number do I call? Is there a timeframe or day of week that it can be done?

well sir, I do apologize for your disappointment, but we do this for your protection.
But as far as the manual authorization, we will call you when we're open for business tomorrow and setup the 3way call to your bank. |

As soon as you call. State you would like to conduct option 2 and we will take care of you. I am sorry if this process seems disappointing to you, I understand. However, being a high-end integrator, many people want to purchase a computer from us. Many of them sometimes end up being kids using their parents credit card.
Once again, sorry for the trouble, but, once we get through it, we can move on building your system. The option 2 will only take 5-10 minutes depending on your bank. Edited by Alex - 05 Sep 2007 at 12:48am |
