Well fellow Digital Storm Forum friends I believe I have created a MANDELBROT FRACTAL DEEP ZOOM that I can be proud of to share with you. I am using a resolution of 1920 X 1200 and an iteration rate of 20,000,000 times per each pixel for each frame to create this Fractal Zoom little movie. It takes hours to create these things even with powerful systems. Then additional hours for YouTube to figure out what you are doing and approve and process it. Here is the link & I hope you will stop by and let me know what you think of it and my music choice for it.
MANDELBROT FRACTAL DEEP ZOOM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT41Fdfz3tY The Mandelbrot set is probably the most famous of all fractals. Its distinctive spiny pear shape is what many people think of when they think of fractals. It is an extremely complex and beautiful fractal, yet it is one of the simplest to calculate. Its formula, expressed in complex numbers, is simply "Z = Z * Z + C". Yet this simple formula, applied iteratively to every pixel in the image, produces an image so complex and detailed that the length of its boundary is infinite. An image so complex that within just a few minutes of starting to zoom in on its tendrils, explorers almost invariably find themselves seeing a part of the set which no person has ever seen before. Fractal Extreme allows the ability to do amazing deep dives on multiple fractal types. I hope you enjoy this visual journey into the depths of the Mandelbrot. The computer I used was my Digital Storm Computer which is configured as shown: Velox X/AMD 5900X/MSI X570 Pro Carbon MB/32GB DDDR 3200 DSPS/850W PS/500GB Samsung 980 Pro/1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus/Sound Blaster AE-7/EVGA FTW3 Ultra RTX 3080 10GB/Liquid CPU cooler dual fan. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks bprat22 & hoserator. I like to create these little Fractal Zoom movies. I have put a lot of them up on my YouTube page. Oh, regarding the music, it is from the YouTube collection of music that they allow you to use for free. I believe I used the song "Dangerous Toys". I try to use an appropriate music track that reflects the mood I feel when I see how the little zoom comes out. :-)

Just noticed the post. That is totally intriguing. The music is a fine match for the visuals IMHO.
Kenny, thanks for sharing! I like your hobby, and I can see it's rewarding for you. Kudos, friend! ![]() |

Thank you Cretae!
I have a bunch of them I have made recently on my YouTube channel. I remember years ago when I had a 386SX and it took forever just to create a single image. Now with these fast computers you can do even do live zooms and then once you find the spot you seek you can turn the iteration rate way up and see how pretty the movie can really be on playback. |

I have decided to used the highest level iteration/resolution possible for making my fractal zoom movies. I had used 20,000,000 iterations but now went to the max with 500,000,000 iterations per pixel. Each of the 1920x1200 pixels are examined 500 million times to determine if it is in the Mandelbrot set, if not when it escapes. The escape iteration point is what determines the various colors. This is calculated over & over for each of the 300 or so frames of the little movies. I will admit they take a while to create, render, & get processed by YouTube for publication.
They are fun to make and I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did when I flew down into the depths of the Mandelbrot. :-) It is on my "Ken Wigger" YouTube channel. Stop by and check out the latest I did today. I believe it may be my best and shows the true beauty of math and how it imitates nature. I was so happy with my latest Fractal Zoom video I had to share with my Forum friends. :-)
Hopefully you all will like it. I used an iteration rate of up to 500 million for each of the 1920x1200 pixels in each movie frame. If within the 500 million iterations the pixel was a member of the Mandelbrot Set it was colored black. If it escapes during the many iterations of Z=Z*Z+C the pixel was colored based upon when it escaped. This was done for each of the appropriately 200 frames in this little Fractal Zoom Movie. This is the URL to the Fractal Zoom Video on my "Ken Wigger" YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBgqEwzG2VI Enjoy! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
